More-Behold the power of the 2210

JDdude,

Cool picures!

I've got a similar but certainly smaller task in the near future moving a small shed with the 2210. I dont have anything with wheels to go underneath, so I was thinking about using round fence posts and rolling it for a short distance. Keep moving the fence posts until I get it moved. The distance is only about 150 ft and not downhill. Any advise?

Thanks,

Kurt

I was thinking of you guys and the "behold the power" posts this past Sunday. I, through sheer dumb luck, was able to get a large rock that wouldn't come close to fitting into the bucket, lifted and carted over to my pile. As I was rolling it it came back on the top bucket edge in such a way that I could get it off the ground. This thing was big, and heavy. I swear I heard the 4310 sigh a bit of relief when I dropped the rock in it's new resting place. I'd love to get pics but I'm always out there alone, and I am just too lazy to go running in and get a camera. I'll bet a lot of us are amazed at what our "little" tractors can accomplish... I know I am. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

JDdude,

OK, I've got to ask. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Where is the rest of you ROPs bar??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'm fairly certain that foldable ROPs are not an option on the 2210 and I've been thing about building myself one.

What's your secret?

There is a folding ROPS available, costs about $300 I think available from FEMCO Inc.. I think one person on the forum bought one. Unfortunately, it is not an option when you buy your tractor.
A couple of people on the forum have modified their ROPS to fold. They have posted some pictures, but (sorry guys) I haven't seen any that were clear enough to see what you guys did. The pictures are too dark to tell. This has been a function of photographing things that are black, no contrast. Do search and you'll see what I mean. I too would like to modify mine. I'd love to see more pictures also. If someone can get me the spec's on what they've done, with all the dimensions I can put it in to (3D) CAD and post some really detailed drawings.
Maybe I'll make a new post on this subject.

Till I get a better picture up go look at a Kubota folding rops. That is just what I did. 2 spacers, 2 bolts,4 plates,2 pins, tape measure, cutting torch, sawzall, drill, mig welder and a can of rustoleum paint. it took about 4 hrs to make.

JDdude, I'll try and do that (look at 'bota). Actually, you're closeup is pretty good. I just can't tell how the pivot point is set up. If you can take (and post) more pics that'd be great. If possible you might want to show the parts separately e.g. unbolted at the pivot bolt. Also include tape measure in picture, for scale. A scanned sketch with the dimesions would also work. It doesn't have to be to scale. Just some thoughts. It wouldn't take me any time at all to model it in CAD. I may go ahead and model the ROPS as a starting point.

One thing I noticed about the FEMCO Rops is that it doesn't have the large triangular gussets at the base like the JD factory one has. Just a square tube welded to the mounting base plate. Not sure what to make of that.

Darn it, this should be a separate thread for sure.

JDude-great pics. I had a car towed into my business last week that had a steel beam dropped on it and your pics give me a great idea! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can start a new thread. I will try and get some more pics taken this weekend for you. The bar just hinges on a piece of pipe welded to the upper part with a bolt through it. I managed to use the same holes to pin the bar in the up position and the down position. worked out really well for doing it on a whim..
