Thanks for the earlier help in getting the BB hooked up. After about 3 hours of work I got the majority of the uneveness out of the area. however, when I try to do some finish work in taking down some slight humps, I can't seem to evenly distribute the dirt in the box. End result is that I just transfer the humb to another area. Keep in mind thas is a cheap (borrowed) BB with only one blade. My neck is killing me!!!!

Very slowly lift the BB while you are moving as you near the end. All of the dirt will slip out very evenly.

MossRoad's right. Also, with the box empty and you off the tractor, set the box on the ground and then bump the lift lever twards "UP" untill the until the blade clears the ground (an inch + /- depending on the courseness of your material) then get back in the seat and see what number the lever is on. On my massey I usually clear the ground at around 4 1/2 and will spread quicker/thicker at 5+. Sometimes you can hear the box stop grading against the ground as you lift it (this is easy with gravel) and that can help you some too. Keep in mind how the machine reacts to the ground. If the front end goes up over a bump the box go down and visa versa. This seems like a headache at first but with a few passes the area will be leveled. You can also try going very slowly and trying to compensate for the ground effect with the lift control but I prefer make several passes at flank speed - "ARR she's breached again!"

I also had better results when going all out on the final passes.

The guys are right. If you keep the blade 1 to 2" off the ground for soft material, a little more for clumps, it will have to eventually level out. You can speed the process by watching for obvious low spots and anticipating when to lift to dump more material at the correct time. You have to kind of pretend you are icing a cake with a big knife, or plastering a wall with a big unwieldy trowel.
