Actually death is a good way out of it for the perp himself, unfortunately all the members of his immediate family (brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, grandparents, etc.) will all be persecuted too.
If he was head of the US FDA, prolly just kept his salary and been transferred to an adjacent position.....

My wife and I stopped by her co-worker's home today to give their 3-year old son a birthday gift. Since Dad has a John Deere compact tractor (newer than mine), she picked up at Target a Deere authorized battery powered toy tractor with remote control (age 3+ rated) for their son. Mom is helping her son with the tractor, and guess what...no remote control. The Chinese forgot to pack it in the box that sits underneath the toy tractor in the main package. No one stole the remote at the store as all the packaging is intact.
However, it's embarrassing to give a gift and it's incomplete because of a shoddy factory. The 3-year old's Mom graciously said she'll stop by Target and see if she can exchange the tractor for one with a remote. Fortunately the child can play with the toy without the batteries. But now the recipient has to inconvenience herself because of Chinese made junk.
Whenever possible, just say NO to Chinese made crap!
