Good job, Dave. Be calm and cool but be firm with them. They get the first shot at fixing things. Keep good notes and if they can't get it right, Deere&Co will.

There are always going to be some initial problems with some tractors. Usually it has to do with prepping from the dealership. When I get a new tractor from our dealer it has 5-10 hours on it. This is not from the factory but from the dealer. They put them on the dyno and inspect for any problems for 4-5 hours. Then they drive it for 2-3 hours checking everything out. They tell you in advance they are going to do this. If you have a problem with the hours they don't do it and just say to give them a call if there is a problem.

I've had problems on equipment. When I do the problems have always been taken care of to my satisfaction. I think you need to give Deere time to rectify the situation. I have never found a better company to deal with on making things right. And it's not just the big guys. There are a couple of guys on this board that are just small time or have one piece of Deere equipment and they've been treated right as well. Give the problem a chance to be fixed correctly. If you don't feel you're being treated right call Deere customer service. They will get a district rep. involved and I guarantee those guys will make sure you are treated right.

We've had some of our forum members complain about getting a "new" tractor with a few hours on the meter. I told my Kubota dealer that I hoped they ran it, tried everything out, etc. before delivery. They didn't put nearly as much time on it as you say your dealer does, but they'd have been more than welcome to do so.

Dave, you need to chill out a bit. I understand that you're upset, becauase I went through the same sort of thing last year when I built a new house. There were things that just weren't being done right, and I was flipping out. In the end, it took time to get things straightened out, but me going nuts didn't help. If you're dealer is a dog, dump him. I just got my 4310 this week. I saved several thousand by buying a used one (70 hrs.) It's a nice machine. I like the made in USA. I like the JD brand. I've already called a local dealer far support and was promptly helped. People seem to be happy with JD in general, so if it's green you really want, get green. You're going to have it a long time !

Maybe 99 % of the time but not always.

Dave did you ever figure out why it took the delivery guy so long to get back to the shop?

One other point which you or others may not be aware of: If you got a good deal on a tractor from a dealer, but do not trust that dealer for service work for whatever reason, feel free to move to a new dealer for your service. Any of them should be glad to help you in warrantee or out. They make money from your visits, one way or another, and want you to buy from them in the future even if not in the past. I have three to choose from within 10 miles of my house, for instance. I bought from the farthest one because the deal was best. I have never been back. When I did have a problem with hydraulics, I called a servicing dealer. He picked it up and transported it to and from his shop, did the work on a Friday and Saturday and brought it back on Sat afternoon. In-warrantee work does not cover transportation, I paid for this. If I had transported it myself, it would NOT have been covered by my homeowners insurance during transport, so the transport charge looked reasonable to me. The dealer who sold it to me may have trasported for free, but I didnt want him working on it so I didnt ask. Anyway, you have a great product, in general, in John Deere, but the dealers vary somewhat. Try another one, keep the tractor, keep records, meet the district guy for future insurance. my 2 cents...
