There have been a lot of threads lately mentioning various interesting items being sold on Ebay.

I've bought only about 10 various items on Ebay over the past three years, ranging from a $1.00 record album to a $300 car. In the past week, I've just started selling some old CD's and records that are just collecting dust in my house.

<font color="blue"> What is the most interesting or unusual item you've sold on Ebay? </font> Not very unusual, but probably a Toyota Starlet driveshaft.

<font color="blue">What is the most interesting or unusual item you've bought on Ebay? </font> A 10' x 4' strip of copper sheeting.

<font color="blue"> What is the worst experience you've encountered using Ebay? </font> None. Every deal has gone smoothly; every item has been as advertised; every buyer had paid promptly and been satisfied with their purchase. I only have a feedback of 30, but it's perfect.

I'm always a bit perplexed by those who do not like EBay; like everything else, you get out of it what you put into it. Do the research, bid carefully, don't let yourself get carried away with premature "ownership", and use sniping software.

Strictly a buyer, up to this point.

As far as bad experiences...just one: when I won the bid for MS Project, it turned out to be a bootleg copy. That was around 4 years ago or so...

One thing I do not like about ebay is the programmed bidding (puts that last minute bid in so one has no time to counterbid).

Of course, I never bid any higher then I'm willing to lose...in case I get in a scam.

My only complaint is so many sellers don't leave feedback! We have over a hundred wins, but only 33 left feedback.

I purchased a 2002 Volvo C70 Convertible with the High Pressure Turbor upgrade, new in 02 from a new car dealer on Ebay.

I purchased a 1988 Avanti Convertible with 17,000 miles on it and a couple dozen "show" awards under its belt.

I purchased a swiss watch for the MISSES with a mother of pearl face and diamond encrusted bezel.

I honestly don't remember.

Some 1:32 scale all metal construction outdoor toy trains from Europe.

Probably a Dillon progressive reloading press for mass producing handgun ammunition? Or maybe a 100 round drum for a Thompson sub-machine gun?

Dealing with a "Malaysian" seller who I was trying to buy a sharkskin watch band from. I did eventually get it, but it took a while.

Are you more of a "buyer" or more of a "seller" on Ebay?

Seller. It's been an opportunity to play with expensive used electronics test equipment and computer gear then sell the stuff for more than it cost. A friend bids surplus auctions at first-tier Silicon Valley technology firms, Intel, NEC, etc and the variety that comes through is amazing. I've moved a lot of stuff that's too unusual to sell in his retail pc-oriented store.

What is the most expensive or least expensive item you've bought on Ebay?

Most: New Nikon 950 camera when it was the latest model.

Least: A dollar for a laser printer when I was the only bid.

What is the most expensive or least expensive item you've sold on Ebay?

Most: Several really old NOS transmitter tubes, the kind used by phone companies in microwave relay towers. A NOS specialist grabbed them at my Buy-it-Now price of a couple hundred $ each. I expected a ham radio hobbyist might bid on one, and it never ocurred to me that a second-source phone industry supplier would jump on all of them as soon as the auction was posted.

Least: $1 bids on SCSI cards. I learned that a $10 starting bid was the lowest that was worth my time to photograph and list.

What is the most interesting or unusual item you've bought on Ebay?

I've found everything needed to restore and maintain my 20 year old Yanmar tractor. Even including the original showroom brochure in my sig photos, and a Flat Rate manual for it. Its amazing what's out there!

What is the most interesting or unusual item you've sold on Ebay?
Several Synoptics LattisCell 10114R-SM ATM Switch, 155Mbps.

What is the worst experience you've encountered using Ebay?
A customer to whom all my emails bounced. He was a nut case; won the auction 4pm Friday and by Saturday had sent me a dozen emails threatening negative feedback since he hadn't received any email from me. I refunded his payment at PayPal (which generated an email to him from PayPal) and on Sunday got a lengthy rambling email thanking me for proving my honesty.

So far my feedback is still 100% positive. Selling on ebay isn't as easy as it looks!
