Remember the "murder hornets"? You know, the terrifyingly large Asian giant hornets that are threatening to wipe out the North American bee population?

Entomologists with the Washington State Department of Agriculture have now located a nest of them – the first to be found in the U.S., the agency says.

The nest was discovered in the cavity of a tree on a property in the city of Blaine, near the Canadian border.

Tried something different. Ordered from Big Lots for 'ship to home'. Had a few reasons, but basically just to try them out. I've ordered from them a few times for 'pick up in store' and it worked well. Placed the order for 11 items early Friday morning. They have 'free shipping' at $59 and my initial list totaled about $50 or so. I selected a few cheap items to fill out the $59 to avoid added shipping charges.

Saturday afternoon, I get an email that they cancelled part of the order. These were the main items I wanted.

Early Sunday morning, I get another email that they cancelled more items. These were some secondary items that I found on sale and selected.

Today, I get an email that the balance has shipped, the last 3 items, the cheap ones I didn't even really want, but selected to fill out the order, a total of about $7 or so. Now, I get another email that the shipment is coming FedEx. They're paying more for shipping the package than I paid for what's inside.

Generally speaking, in my case, on line shopping is a double edged sword, like all things.

The last 4 out of 5 orders were wrong. Last delivery was for rigid saw stand I had to beat with a hammer to assemble. I'm in formal disputes with 2 other amazon venders. Walmart sent an incomplete order and now it's like I don't even exist. They seem to excell at taking your money but if there is a problem, talk to the hand.

When everything works, it's great. Problem is, in my case, when things go bad the customer has no recourse.

Yesterday I bit the bullet and sat down to file a formal complaint with the fed dept of who gives a shi#. After 15 minutes of tappy tappy tappy the page crashed.

I've said it before, between the take no prisoners approach to commerce and the inherent incompetence of govt watch dog agencies, grab your ankles!
