Uncle who lives next door is starting to forget. Not on a serious level yet, but his mental decline has started /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

His son (& sons wife) now, live with him.

I don't know from where it came, but they recently brought home an adult Lasa Ahpsa (sp?). You know, the little furry dog that loves to sit on your lap.

They got one to keep their OTHER one who's older, company.

Seems son left for while and told forgetful dad to NOT let Morgan out unless he was with him.

Seems Morgan went to door and Dad thought "uh...I guess he wants out for a minute" so he left him out.

The OTHER dog will MAYBE go to the field only if others are there. He really stays by the patio.

Not Morgan. He has a habit of rocketing off into never land. Son got home hour later and figured out what happened. Don't know if dog took off to left or right. Seeing as we're in middle of 250 acres, looking for something the size of a basketball and potentially in the woods not visible to us...hasn't been too fruitful.

Just thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas how to help Morgan find his way back home. He's not been here long enough to know the area (in our opinion).

Unfortunately, although we have a large problem with people DUMPING dogs our way, it's certainly possible he meandered down the road and someone thought he was dumped and picked him up.

We've been out searching, I just circled 80% of the farm and went around all the fields while Tom went other direction and went down road.

I thought I'd post this here to see if anyone has any tricks they might have used in similar situation.

Thanks

Maybe play a radio fairly loud and see if he can zone in on it?

I don't know from where it came, but they recently brought home an adult Lasa Ahpsa

Maybe he is going back to where he came from... seriously... Several times I have found our "lost" dogs that way. My father was supposed to be watching our dog for a weekend. He got away from him. We found him halfway to our house.

Another time my mom's dog disappeared. A minister found him a couple weeks later sitting outside a seldom used back door at a church where my father and I attended Boy Scout meetings once a week!

Try putting out some dog food and water. Leave flood lights on at night, too. Best of luck finding the little guy. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Not to my knowledge.
An internet friend of mine just lost a dog. She let two dogs out and only one came back. She went walking with the other dog, leaving scents all over, getting her other dogs to bark, everything she could think of and nothing worked. Of course, the worst might have happened, too /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

One thing she did that I hadn't thought or heard of was leaving lost fliers at a school bus garage for the bus drivers to see.

Here's a semi-update and other idle thoughts.

We live 15 miles out of town so if the dog is trying to go home... his little legs have got a lot of work to do.

I found out he's about 1 1/2 years old He belonged to an elderly lady who was having some health issues and couldn't keep up with him. Seems he's had a historical propensity to run away & explore.

His name (by her) wasn't "Morgan", but "Tinker" or something other.

That tidbit now explains to me why he would never respond to being called Morgan... (that they never taught him his 'new' name kind of hit me the wrong way... I was then told that he never responded to "Tinker" (or what ever the lady called him) either, so it seems a wash)

Seems he's had a history of exploring and running away. That was another reason why the elderly lady didn't keep him, they didn't think she could keep him under control.

As far as I know, up to this time of day he has not been sighted. They DO have food outside and I noticed this morning when I left, the light was on.

I let my two dogs "run wild" yesterday since they're explorers too. I was hoping they'd run around the farm doing their bark routine to give Morgan a direction to return. I choralled them up at 8:00 or so and no Morgan with them /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm leaving for California today so I won't know anything about Morgan for 2 weeks.

He was such a DARN cute ball of furr and my dogs just loved to play & romp with him.

My wifes cousin was bi****ng about how Morgan runs away all the time... he was doing this out in the field, as I had MY two dogs on a leash (and we live in middle of 250 acres). I nodded my head and told him I completley understood the frustration of having a dog that loves to go explore and that was the reason we keep these two on a leash by design.
