Looks like the lift i need to move my lathe and my next drill press. That ones chassis extends and retracts doesnt it. I was running one at a Machine shop i worked in one winter and the boss got in a new Mori Seki 2 pallet machining center. We unpackaged it and as i picked it up the boss motioned me to pick it up 4feet off the ground for him and the maintenance man to look at the underside. I told the boss all week the lift was losing fuild from the welded base on the lift cylinder. Well needless to say the cylinder blew the weld out and dropped the new center. We had 2 company reps redoing the machine inhouse for 4 days.
What kind of machinery are you moving machine tools or other? I mainly operate heavy equipment but in the winter i run a small job shop. Last week i set Mazaak Machining center in a factory with a crane. The company figured it was cheaper to put a hole in the roof than to take a block wall down and move all the other in place machines. I used a 222 Manitowoc hydraulic lattice boom crane with a 175 foot boom and 2part line. THe company owner was stressed you couldnt have pulled a greased needle out of his tail with D9 Cat. The first tr i got within 6inches of the preset mounts and with a little fine radio work got righ over the mounts. I wasnt allowed pictures because of the company policy plus the crane is a 2 handed job.

A lot of machine shops that do government work won't allow pictures. I was able to take them at the last job we did when we poured the foundation for a new mill. I get along good with the owners and we do have a lot of fun there. As for how you set the machine, it is easier some of the time to tear open the roof to put a new machine in. We had to tear open the roof at the local machine shop for the riggers to set a new mill about 10 years ago. That was the only time though as all the other machines could go thru the doors and around any other machines.
