Rotella now is WAY overpriced. It is over $28 (4 qts) at Chinamart, TSC etc....Give me a break....It is a group 3 people!!!!!

As always, we enjoy your cryptic posts, sw03, and if I understand, you favor that LC20 product. OK. Trust me, most folks did not get your reference.

Also, I don't know where you got $28 a gallon for Rotella Syn.
At WalMart today. $19.50 a gallon. That's way, way less than you stated. Sorry. Use whatever you want, but let's get a little closer on the pricing.:laughing:

Cryptic??? Pretty easy to understand here...I facor what UOA show what works....I know people on here do not get "your reference"..I know this forum inside and out...Most do not know LC20, use it, Do UOA's, understand them, etc...

I know where Rotella is $28...east coast bud..It is overpriced..It was $19.50 last year on the east coast..The place where things cost more to buy, live etc..

It is sad when Amsoil is cheaper then Rotella..If you are lucky onsale at Autozone is is $26 and Advanced had it for $25 sold out...

sw03, I realize you are passionate about syn oils, amzoil, UOA and the rest. If there is an oil thread, you are sure to post your thoughts, and that is your right to do so.

But, here's the thing, and I hope you understand.

The vast majority of CUT owners here at TBN run something akin to 70-100 hours a year and change their oil/filter annually. Frankly, even if they used plain old, house brand dino, they are going to get their 10 years or 700-800 hours of totally trouble free use out of their diesel tractors. Maybe at 2000 hours, the difference might begin to show between having used house brand dino for $12 a gallon, or Group 3 synthetics for $20 a gallon or Group 4 synthetics for $30 a gallon. With annual oil/filter changes? I doubt even then.

That would take the 70 hour a year guy 27+ years to reach 2000 hours.!!!!

First, a lot of these guys here at TBN are retired or semi-retired, or if they are younger, they are gonna have likely gotten 3 other tractors by then.

Just speaking for myself, at 100 hours a year, and 27 years, i am not going to be looking down wondering if I should have used dino, Group 3 or Group 4. If I should, through some unforeseen reason, still be breathing in 27 years, no one is gonna let me operate a tractor. Just some common sense reality in the endless Dino vs Group 3 vs Group 4 debate.
