Oil & Fuel motor oil for your compact massey

Like to hear what motor oil you massey guys are using out there.

For winter use, Valvolie Premium Blue 5W40, and for summer will be soon changing out to Amsoil OE 15W40. Use MF filters.

Mobil 1 0w40 year around. Find it on sale for $5-6 on a regular basis and the same oil I use in my Sprinter. Sometimes find 5 qt and a filter for $25 so I get oil for the Sprinter and they do not have a filter for the truck so I get a Fram 4386 that fit the tractor.

Use an oil specifically made to be used in diesel engines.

Other oils can meet the minimum standards to be used in diesels. But, they are not the best options for dealing with the soot, and acids a diesel engine creates.

Those who built your engine recommend 10w-30 for routine cold, and warm weather operation.

I would suggest either Rotella 10w-30, or Amsiol ACD.

Mobil1 0w40, is diesel rated and rated too the MB and VW diesel ratings with out DPF(diesel particulate filter) And since I have a MB Sprinter and VW Jetta i use the same oil for all of my diesels. And the 0w40 makes for easier cold starting and the manual for my 2310 allows for multiweight to w40.

Everyone has to decide what they believe is best for them, and their conditions. I am sure your choice will work fine.

The only 40w my manual allows for is, 15w-40w in above 15F ambient conditions.

I would expect your synthetic oil would be able to go lower than that.

MF did not spec. any 0w or 5w oils for this engine. Although, if I lived in Alaska, I would probably consider looking at them anyway.

The -33F pour point of the Amsoil ACD is more than adequate for Ohio winters. My engine starts right up without a block heater. And judging by the block heater posts, there seems to be few who can say that.

0w40 and 15w40 are both 40 wt. oil. But 0w will flow and move through the engine faster on startup with less bypass then a 15w. And I see no problem with the lower # for that reason. I do not have a heater on mine and it sets out in the winter.

As long as the oil meets the OEM's API classification and the correct SAE grade for the ambient temperatures that the machine is operating in, that's all that counts. All the rest is advertising and marketing hype. I use Delo 400LE 15W40 because it's convenient for me to pick up at the closest Costco. If they carried Shell Rottela,or Mobil DelVac , etc , that's what I'd use.

Let's just say i want to use pennzoil thats rated for diesel. 10w30 I'm sure that would be ok. I just have 10w30 oil in my tractor now, the same i use in my dakota truck. Just your basic oil.

All my newer diesels get Mobil1 5W40 Turbo Diesel. My old late 50's dozer gets Shell Rotella 15W40. Never had any problems.
