Mott Flail Mower

   / Mott Flail Mower #21
Hello Jcichy71,

Your TC18 is too small for that Mott fine cut flail mower
and it does not have enough horsepower or torque.

Your TC18 may not have enough torque and horsepower
to manage a 4 foot rotary brush mower.

Your TC18 would be able to run a Caroni 48 inch flail mower
with the A rotor that has 2 rows of heat treated side slicer knives.
Save the PTO shaft and sell the mower for what you have in it as
a down payment to buy the Caroni TL1200ASC flail shredder which
has the 48 inch cut and 2 rows of heat treated side slicer knives.

Check with agrisupply to see when they will be getting a new
shipment of flail mowers in so you can have it later this year.

I upgraded to a john deere 950 a few years ago, for just that reason the TC18 was too small.

In my neck of the woods, multiflora rose can get big and gnarly. Once cut your, fine cut flail should be able to maintain yearly maintenance of trails if you do not have too much woody growth. That mower was meant to be more of a finish mower. That it excels at.

As you are finding out there are many types of flail mowers. Some have optional blades or hammers. Just as many grades of rotary cutters too.

I’m in that learning curve too.

Yeah I got excited thinking a “flail mower is a flail mower” the good news is it seems like I got a good mower at a really good price so even if I flip it I can try and find a better brush mower.
