I like the horse story too.
Since posting about manual suggesting to use the right side of tractor, I have "studied the subject" while mowing this week. I found that I have always used the left side to mount and dismount. Today while hitching up brush hog I walked around from the right side to mount tractor on left and move tractor an inch or so to line a pin up. I thought to myself, "Ain't that something, "I use the left without thinking." Then I tried using the right a few times. I found it's harder to use the right side. I almost fell once getting off on the right.
The left works better for me. It's probably safer to use left as the brake is on right.
