I finally got around to buying and mounting a set of HDAPs on my 2305. A few others here have them and seemed to be happy. My turfs were fine mowing my lawn, but obviously lousy when snowblowing my long gravel driveway (even with 2-link v-bar chains on the rears), and completely useless when even remotely "off the road."

I scored all 4 at treadepot.com for about $280.00 shipped, which I was pretty excited about. My local dealer was pushing them mounted on wheels for over $800 and didn't even want to talk to me about ordering the tires alone.

I had a rough time mounting the rears, using every ATV tire mounting trick I know, including ether, on those wide wheels, so I finally gave up and tubed them.

Mowing for the first time, I was surprised how much smoother the ride was vs the turfs, and mowing up one of my steep hills I had spun out on before was a piece of cake. Well worth the $$. I can't wait to get them in the snow.

Sounds good! It will be interesting to see how they work out with loader work. I used to flex the r-1 tires I had on my BX pretty badly with heavy loads, so it will be interesting to compare that with the turfs. I have been to one JD dealer that had pre mounted HDAP's on a 2305.

Which ones did you get and do you have pics of them?

Thanks Bill

Thanks I was always wondering - by the complaints here of a rough ride- if the HDAP's on my 2210 weren't a bit softer than the turfs.
I chose them for the tread that works good in dirt and great in snow. HDAP's are great snow tires you'll see.

I gotta disagree with you on the tire chains. I have them on all 4 wheels on my 755 JD, the key having enough weight to make them bite. I push a 6 1/2 western plow and throw 300 or 400 lbs on the rear end and it pushes like a dozer. I wish they had the HDAP tires for my 755 though

I am thinking about changing out my turfs to HDAP's, are there any issues w/ using them and a FEL? or are they strong enough for the extra weight

I once moved a (guessing) 1000 lb rock with my loader, does that help? No issues with the HDAP's at all. The only thing is keep the fronts at max press. when doing heavy loader work and you'll be fine. I max out the loader with dirt all the time. 560 hours on my HDAP's. Tread seems to be holding up fine though I rarely run on anything but dirt, grass and snow.

Thanks that answers my question, they seem to be a good solution without going to a bar type tire. I would be using on the lawn to mow and do not want to rip it up.

No, they won't hurt the turf. Only time they might is going too fast around a tree in soft/wet conditions, a little care is required.. under such conditions be aware and slow down. I'm sure HDAP's ride a lot softer than construction tread on dry hard rough turf. Perfect all -around use tires.

So far I have had good traction with the HDAP tires and no problems on the lawns. Definately rides better than my previous mower.
