OK, OK so I'm a klutz. It took 2 of us 40 min. to mount a 60 inch belly mower on a JD compact (770 ) tractor. We couldn't drive over it, had a hard time getting it under the tractor to manuver it into place. We finally had to run the front wheels onto ramps so we could get the deck under the tractor.
Does anyone have any good suggestions. I may have to keep the mower mounted forever.

If you turn the front wheels hard one direction, would there be room for the mower to roll under the tractor? That is how all the JD garden tractors I have had worked.

If you have a loader, you can use it to lift the front wheels off the ground and let the deck slide under. Just don't put yourself under the tractor where you could be squished if something happens to the loader.

Sounds like I shoul have tried that. It's just that that mower deck is so heavy and awkward it's hard to maneuver.

I did try that, but couldn't get front high enough.

Bingo!! We drove the front tires of our 1523 up on suitcase weights...worked great!!

I pull my massey up on 2x4 blocks and that is high enough for it. I use an old tie down strap with a hook on the end and that makes it easy to pull the deck under the tractor. It surprised me how easy it pulls.

Were you doing it on a concrete floor? That makes it easier than doing it in the dirt.

Actually started on grass, too hard to slide. Moved to asphalt, attached strap and was able to get deck under tractor. Wasn't easy.
