Here are couple pics of us mounting a hydraulic PHD to a FEL.

Are you using standard tractor hydraulics to power this or do you use a PTO pump? I like the idea of hydraulics due to the ability to reverse the auger should it hang in a rock or large root. Please let us know how it works.

I may not be seeing something, but what holds it onto the bucket? Is it clamped onto the cutting edge?

Nice set up !

psj12, yes I'm using just the remote hydraulic, and I bought the larger GPM PHD, works good in standard ground. I let everyone know how it does in heavy clay soon. The way we made the mount if the L3130 can't handle it I can put it on 580 Case TLB.

Ductape, I have two pieces of 5" x 5" x 1/2" x 6" long angle welded to back of angle thats on the cutting edge, it's tapped with 4 -1/2" bolts that hooks just behind the edge. Also I think I'm going to chain to the bucket, but so far it holds well.

I checked woodsequipment.com and didn't see the hydo PHD listed. Did you use the same model they build the skidsteer units with? Could you point me to the unit you're using? I would think the GPM output of a tractor would'nt be enough to turn the unit at rated speed.
Thanks alot for the pics! I'd like to do something similiar.

It appears to come in high and low volume hyd. motors. I actually like the mount shown on the Rhino site where it is on the side of the bucket.

psj12, I thought about that, it was 400.00 and some change for that and 12' hoses. Looked like to me it would twist the FEL, and I didn't want to drill all my buckets plus I needed more the 12' of hose. The way I made mine it will just slide on anything over 59", give plenty of support and I have alot less then $400 subtracting time that is.:D

Ductape, here is how I have it mounted now. Also after I use it some I'm going to add chains, I was going to do it like the company did on there mount but glad I didn't because I'm up to plan C already.:D

Looks good. 2 questions, though: 1) Why did you choose the high flow vs. the low flow? Your max flow at your remote is 8.3gpm. The low flow is rated for 5-12gpm and the high for 10-25. and 2) If the mount bangs around a bit and monkeys up the threads on the "set bolts", how will you get it off?

I was going to get the low flow and the dealer talked me out of doing it, he said it will just turn slower no loss of power. Also I may put it on my Case 580 TLB. So far it works ok on the L3130, I'll find out how it does on heavy clay soon.
If I screw up the bolts I'll just take a cut off wheel on a grinder and cut them off, then back them out. I usually turn the last couple threads off in the lathe so if it mushrooms the end no big deal, just didn't have time. Also I'm going to use chains and binders to hold it on, like Rhino does. I was going to drill a couple holes to see how I wanted to do the chain mount, glad I did I changed my mind three times so far LOL.

so where are the controls for the phd? maybe im just missing something

You sit in the seat, to your right and back. It's the control for the power beyond, push and hold one way, forward, push the other way, reverse, let go it stops. I think it's much safer than power take off PHD.

Am I to understand correctly that the Rhino hydraulic PHD cost $400? Or was that just the mounting bracket? I would be really interested in buying one. I have a Danused PTO digger now. But the hydraulic unit looks like it would be just the thing to mount on my Komatsu trackhoe.

No that was the bucket bracket and hose kit. I think you can get a high flow 10 to 15 GPM with one auger and bucket bracket/ hose kit for 1895.00
