Tractor
MF 1260
I have a new to me MF 1260 with FEL, my first tractor. I purchased a tiltmeter from R&B manufacturing and getting ready to mount it, but I thought I would ask if others have mounted this tiltmeter on a 12xx series tractor. If so, where? My first thought was on the main supports for the FEL, but after watching the support post while running the fel up and down, decided that was probably not a good choice.

Thanks in advance for your help.

When I had a MF 1250, I never did find a good place to put my tiltmeter (R&B). I finely just mounted it on the canopy. You could use two sided trim tape and mount it on the top of the dash on the flat black edge that is about inch wide.

Good question!
I've had a tilt meter sitting on my workbench for over a year as I try to figure out where to put it on my 1225. The most convenient place looks to be on the metal shroud around the instrument panel. Unfortunately, the fuel tank is under that shroud and there doesn't look to be enough clearance to put a nut on the bolt, nor do I have enough courage to try drilling a hole, or even a self-tapping screw through there for fear of hitting the tank.
I have considered using two-sided tape but I'm not sure how that would hold up in extreme temperatures.

Thanks for both replies. I hadn't thought of the trim tape, think I'll look again with that idea in mind.

I was considering mounting it on the metal tube on the right side of the tractor that forms the holder for the thin plexiglass sheet, at the top before it bends downward. I haven't used my tractor enough to know if that would be precarious location?

The Plexiglass screen housing would be a good location. You could either use the tape to mount it or you could bolt a flat plate about an inch wide to the two holes on the side of the screen mount and bend it over at the top to make it the height that you want. You shouldn't have any problem damaging it there.

Jerry-

Thanks so much for your suggestion, it got me to thinking along a different path - that of adding a bar. Since my metal working skills are limited to drilling holes, attached is a photo of how I mounted it.

Thanks!

Cool. Looks like that will work.
I have thought for a long time that I was the only member on TBN that ever got their tractor dirty. Now, I know that there are two. You and me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you will get double sided auto trim tape it will hold up fine. Most if not all parts stores and Wal-Marts carry it.

Yep - bought it to use not to look at. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif We are building a house and perhaps someday we will have beautifully landscaped grounds, but right now what we got is a sea of mud.
