I bit the bullet and bought 7.5 gallons of the Super UDT2 ($160) and the filters. It was too rainy to do anything outside so I changed the fluid & filters. Had enough SUDT2 to put it in the front axle too. I'll provide observations if it ever stops raining long enough to put it to work.

Did the same thing yesterday, bought 10 gallons and filters. Not planning on changing mine for a couple of weeks, but also waiting to see the results. Local dealer does not carry it, says it doesn't do much good around here, but does not know anyone local who uses it. I told him I would be the guinea pig.

Where you guys located? I think the sudt2 really shines in cold weather operation. Maybe not notice too much difference in warmer climates. I am a believer in it. I am in pennsylvania. What fluid were you using before? The sudt2 is semi synthetic.

I'm in PA too, near Harrisburg. Not sure what fluid was in my tractor when I bought it, which is t he main reason I changed it, now I know.

I am down in the warmth. Cold here is below freezing. The original fluid in Kubota L-series is Kubota UDT. The SUDT is supposed to suppress the whine and smooth out the hydraulics. Also, when changing the front axle oil fill it and give it a day or so and recheck it, you will find you will have to add up to a quart or more. Then check it again in a week. It takes a while for the fluid to refill the lower bevel gear assembly. FYI, Kubota oil products are made by Vavoline.

SUDT2 definitely helps with the whine. Seems to operate smoother over all.

I have been very happy with the performance since I switched.

Thanks for the tip about re-checking the front axle fluid level!

Kubota has two fluids. Standard UDT and synthetic SUDT2. SUDT2 replaced SUDT a while back. Either is suitable for all climate operation just like motor oil. SUDT2 just flows better in cold climates, has better wear properties, is supposed to smooth hydraulic operation, is said to reduce whine, and of coarse costs more.

I finally got a chance to run my tractor for about 3 hours today after the change to SUDT2, and I am very pleased. Much less whine , my whites are whiter and my colors brighter . I checked the level in the front axle and ritschner you were right, I added about another quart.
