I read something about this movie recently. It is expected to do well, due to all the hype, but there is fear that it will spawn many more similar movies. Unfortunately, this is the kind of movie that only works well the first time around. We'll quickly grow tired of "Spiders on a boat" and "Tigers in a hotel" and "Poison Ivy in the Greenhouse"...

"Hornets in the Subway" would be my personal nightmare. Yellowjacket in the truck is enough to make me pull over at the FIRST reasonably safe opportunity and bail out. We all got our issues. For me snakes would be a yawner. Besides, like someone posted earlier, pressure would affect them, and if the pilot dropped the AC into the 60s they would be sluggish. Lower and they'd be even slower.

Snake predators kill them by wearing them out....snakes can only engage in activity very briefly (because they are ectothermic...cold blooded) even in warm weather. Predators tease them into prolonged activity then have their way with them. Secretary birds, mongooses, road runners, etc. will taunt the snake into repeated attacks. I suspect the snakes on Hollywod's plane will be lightning fast with unlimited stamina.....and they will probably growl or make some menacing noise previously unheard from any real snake.

If you want to have some fun -- you can have Samuel L. Jackson send a personal email or phone message to someone by visiting this Snakes on a Plane webpage.

You answer questions about the person you are sending it to, and the message is customized to those answers.

Just visited that site. It's so pathetic it actually becomes funny. Not sure when I last recall an actor/actress going that low to hype a movie.

Mine is spiders! I can't stand to go in the crawl space. I hope my next place has either a basement or a slab :)

This movie looks like the looser of the year. I don't think SL Jackson has ever turned down a movie contract. Heck the other year he was in like 6 of them. Kind of like Michael Caine, about equal number of really good and really bad movies.

How many snakes "hang out" up on mountains at 8,000 ft? The pressure inside an airplane is allowed to decrease after takeoff to that elevation. That's why your ears pop. If someone had a bag of snakes at that elevation, you'd probably open the bag to find them all asleep. I'm not saying it wouldn't cause a panic, but the snakes would be sooooo...slooooow.:)

Hi Jinman,

Plenty of snakes up here at 7,000 ft in the mountains of New Mexico, they are not slow by any means, especially those diamondbacks, I hate them. But don't kill them because they eat rodents. They are my "mousers".

The "Snakes on a Plane" title cracks me up, kinda sounds like a fast food joint like "Hot dog on a stick".

Holywood will produce anything.

Does seem like they could bring the temprature on a plane down to about 45F pretty quick. Most snakes are not very interested in going out and about at 45 degrees F.

You must not only suspend your disbelief during some of these movies, but you must use a noose, a gun and a dirk on it to keep it quiet. A stout drink might help too.

One of the hardest things to do during a movie is to not shout out how impossibly stupid a premise is. 24 is a good example of the rediculous fueling an impossible scenerio.

I'm just happy a movie about a snake turned out to be a huge flop!!!!!
