As I pack "fragile stuff" to move to Mississippi I need other "stuff" to wrap it in.

We USED to wrap stuff in newspapers.

And then 20 years later when one finally digs into that old box there is a "blast from the past" in reading the "personal time capsule", be it comics, classified, or headlines.

In this age we've dropped hard copy newspapers.

We get most of our news online from TBN and other forums.

How do you wrap a glass bottle in TBN posts?

But I've plenty of Amazon cardboard to take the place of newspapers.

This wasn't a request for ideas for wrapping "stuff". More a comment on the passing of an "age".

As I've been packing I ran across some tools carefully wrapped back in 1977 in newspapers. Certain tools, like my Grandfathers chisels, which I use only occasionally, I'l unwrap use then wrap back up. And I'm pretty sure somewhere I've stuff wrapped in the 1960's waiting to be unwrapped.

Rolled underlayment used for laminate floors works well.

We have been saving bubble wrap from Amazon to take on a trip to Europe this summer. We need something to protect the bottles of Scotch we are bringing back. :licking::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Since we stopped getting papers, we don't have much to wrap things with but we do get newspaper like stuff in the mail we save. I still have buckets holding newspapers from when we did get a paper. Just keeping that stuff around to light the BBQ and the fireplace.

Our garbage collection center has changed the way recycling is handled. Not sure they have a dumpster for newspaper since we do not have any to dump anymore. One could try a collection center and see if you could get some old newspapers. Might have to go on a Saturday to get some before it is put in the dumpster.

We wrap our stuff nowdays in old Emails!

Seriously, we still get the paper newspaper. I periodically drop a stack off at the county recycling center. I also hope they would probably let you get some newspaper out of the bins if you tell them what you want it for.

Got a new printer for my home network the other day. Tried to take the styrofoam packing to our local recycling center and they treated me like I had the plague. Seemed like they almost wanted to call a HAZMAT incident. Would not take it - not even touch it. So I had to take it over to the "dump" side and throw it in with all the garbage, broken furniture and other "household trash". There's a sign with a list a mile long of "no-no's" on the dump side too but I didn't see "styrofoam" listed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Amazing how a phrase gets corrupted and then becomes the norm.
People put stuff in a bin and then proudly proclaim "I Recycle".
When it goes in the bin it is "Collected'. Only after it has been reused is it recycled!
BUT, when you wrap those glasses in old newspaper you HAVE RECYCLED!!!
"Collecting" has just become another form of Tax.
