Congrats, nice place you found. Looks like a lot of work and good times ahead for you. How far of a commute will your property be?

That's VERY COOL!! What a great piece of property! I'm kind of familiar with your part of Indiana - I used to have a customer in Rockville. It's super scenic around there - covered bridges, farmland, forest, Amish horse & buggies, etc.

Best of luck to you and your wife!!

I think I like it, 1quik, but hey man, all ye land looks like it has white dirt, and ye pond water looks like it might be a bit hard.

And, as far ye future, I've always said either banking or funeral director. Drive through any small rural town and the best looking buildings are always banks and funeral homes! Plus, us geezers are dying to give ye more bidness...

I like ye place! A dream for sure!

Thanks for the complements folks! We do have a lots of work on our hands, but we are young and have nothing better to do with our free time. We have done a little more demolition this week, I have the bathrooms tripped down to the studs and ready for new wall board and tile. We have s contractor lined up to tear off the old roof, replace the decking and re-install the old metal. There is nothing wrong with it other than the previous builder didn't use thick enough deck boards the the screws have all worked out creation 1000 leaks. I waiting to do much more inside until the roof leaks are stopped.

As far as a commute, its approx. 8 minutes door to door from our funeral home, which is perfect!

Been awhile since I made an update, we are moving along pretty well at this point. This summer has been a trial of time and money, when I have time I have no money, when I have the money I have no time... So it goes.
First order of business was repair/replacing the roof: As I stated before, the decking was shot, so we pulled down the metal, replaced the decking and underlayment, then replaced the original mateo as it was in good shape.

Next was the start of the drywall and inside work. At this point I have the main bath 80% complete.
Started with trying to pour a concrete shower base...

The corners dropped out so it was scrapped..

Ended up using stone tile for the base, and faux wood tile on the walls. The walls are complete, just no pictures to show for it yet.

the kitchen is finished except counter tops and floors, and there is color on the walls for 90% of the house. It's coming along fairly quickly, Im waiting to be nearing completion before installing the hardwood.

The only picture I have of the kitchen at the near finished point.

The floor was delivered a couple weeks ago, after a mis communication with the delivery company I got the pleasure of moving it all by hand, twice, but at last it is in the house.

Found a .45 ACP slug in one of the boards, thought it was pretty neat.

To add a little stress to the whole situation, we found out my wife is pregnant with a little boy which is due Christmas Eve!!! We went from having all the time in the world to a hard deadline of Oct. 1 set by my better half.

With the mild summer we have had, I have found it tough to stay inside and work on the house. I have been splitting my time between cleaning up the mess that was called a yard, and trying to get the house finished up. The property is finally starting to look like someone might live there, and views like these make it hard to leave at the end of the day.
