Andy,

On my TN65D two of the three rear valves are connected to the joystick. They would run four flex-lines from the loader to the two rear valves connected to the joystick. The loader doesn't know the difference. What do you mean when you say they 'piped' 2 of your 4 rear valves to a mid-mount location? Did they physically move the valves? And if they moved the valves do you recall approx. what the cost was?

I've looked at the factory setup for mid-mount valves as compared to what I now have. Differences appear to be one long hardline from engine area to rear valves replaced by two shorter hardlines with mid-mount valve stack in the middle, something to physically hold the valves under the right step, and two new cables from joystick. In my ignorance it seems like it should be a simple thing to do.

Any further enlightenment you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks

Jason,

What you describe is exactly what I was originally thinking. The 'hydraulics expert' former mechanic now Parts/Service Manager I spoke with about this said he'd never seen this done but thought it could be done and would have to contact NH on how to do it. That you were able to purchase a kit for doing this just confirms what I originally thought ----- the parts to do this are readily available and it likely ain't no big deal to do. Any idea what this kit cost you and what the part number is?

Even if I stick with the plan of running flex-lines I'd like to have this information because I may decide at a later date to relocate the valves.

How's that BH 446 working out for you?

Thanks

Zoom,

Let me clarify one point: the kit does not relocate the valves, only the quick-connects. the valves remain at the rear of the tractor and the hard pipes are tucked neatly on the tractor to the area by the right step - which is the factory arrangement on the older model TN's, I believe.

I do not have the part number anymore, but my dealer found it pretty easily. If I remember correctly, I paid approx. $200 for the kit which included the hard lines and the mounting bracket for the quick connects under the step.

The M446 loader is working very well. I like the mid-mount with no mounting hardware up front and I love the bobcat-style quick change between implements. I have the heavy duty bucket with removable tooth bar, hay spear, and forks. I have one small problem with the up/down hydraulic valve. I think that the slide in the valve needs adjsustment as it is loading the hydraulic system excessively when I partially open the valve - but it is not a problem with the loader.

Thanks for the clairification Jason. A day or two ago I found a prior post, maybe yours, that has a serios of pictures that illustrate installation of the kit.

What I was hoping was possible was to physically relocate two of the rear valves to the mid location. Having looked at newer TNs with mid-mount valves it doesn't look like it should be a big deal -- new hardlines, mid location mounting bracket for valves, new cables for joystick, and odds and ends. But alas I have not found a NH dealership willing to spend the time necessary to figure it out. I'll get back to it later.....when I have the time and the required patience. Thus far in my dealings with tractor dealerships the Parts people seem always to be customer oriented....the other folks seem to be a mixed bag of mostly don't give a hoots. Too bad.

Thanks
