Tractor
Kubota L4610 HST with loader
We all at one time have to get the truck and the tractor some where close by and don't want to walk or hook up the trailer ect. So I thought I would show you how I get the tractor and the truck back to woods where I do alot of logging. Now I know that some of you are going to think Im nuts but I have been doing this for about 6-7 years now and its worked well. With the old ford 1910 it didn't work as well because I used just 1 chain, now with 2 its all most like a tow bar. Now I don't go down any big hills but it dose go around corners just fine. Rember that the back of my truck is NOT pretty Its iron not sheet metal and chrom so if it bumps into the back no big deal. But I pull it this way 1/2 mile load up the truck with wood and head home. how dose that go? "Your mileage may vary".

Rich, I definitely believe you./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Even if it was pretty before you did that, it wouldn't be afterwards./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I saw the photo and figured something like that... have you considered a tow bar setup instead of the chains?

Rich, I must say that is just abit on the wild side isn't it? But if it works for you then run with it. But wouldn't a pipe run over the chain keep the tractor from hitting the back of the truck. Guess that would take the fun out of it though.

Looks like those hooks come in handy for more than towing.
Great tractor shots!!!

rich,
Your not nut by any means.
Thats a comon practice for alot of loggers around here.
D-8 pulling a skidder to another site, dozer or skidder pulling a log truck or a pick up.

Even on the farm I'm sure some of us had done that more than once.

I always put a tractor tire between what I was towing, and about 6or8 inches of slack chain so if I got bump the tire would be like a shock.

In NH your allow to tow w/a chain up to 1 mile on a public road, than after that you must have a tow bar setup...found that out. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Yes I have but the chains are so fast and I just don't have any trouble with the bump thing.

You guys got this all worng, I bet that the tractor hasn't hit the back maybe 2-3 times in all this time. Im not into beating up my truck! Were only talking about going 2-40's at the most[1/4 to1/2 mile] and it's all on my land and I go very slow! If I had a tail gate/ reg. pickup box I would never try this!!!
