Tractor
Kubota M4900, B7510 and RTV
i have to admit, i was a little concerned when i bought my new GMC truck, and the biggest motor i could get was a 327, in the half ton model...i have been use to the 350 in my 93 GMC..but i moved my M4900 kubota tractor last night, and it did a good job, handled the load with no apparent problems..
still need to install the brake unit...i think i'll do that before i move the tractor again...i don't mind not being able to go, but i get real excited when i can't stop...

Yeah I agree on the trailer brake idea. I just bought a new Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins turbo diesel. I'm guessing it should pull my Kioti 3054 just fine /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

heehaw,

I think you'll like the 5.3 liter (oops I mean 327) motor. It has more horsepower and similar torque to the 350. I have it in my 00 Chevy z71 and it is quite capable. It's definitely got more power than the two trucks I have at work with stock 350's.

Of course, the 6 liter is noticeably better when a load is on the back. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My '01 2500 quadcab 4x4 Cummins pulls a Bobcat S185 just fine. That's about 7800lbs.

That is above the reciever hitch rating for towing with a compensating reciever system though, which is rate to 10,000 lbs. Normal tow rate on simple ball reciever is only 5000lbs

No sense of adventure? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You don't have to worry about the truck not being able to work. I have a '99 Silverado w/ 71k on it and I've worked it plenty hard. I've towed 32' campers w/ it weighing at about 8k. I've towed a trailer hauling a Ford 3000 & 5' bushhog. Probably the most weight I've actually towed is my cousin's Toyota skidsteer. It is pretty good sized one. I think he said it weighs a little over 8k + 800 pounds for the bucket + about 1500 for the trailer. That doesn't take into account the fact I had the bed loaded down with all kinds of tools and such as at that time that was my storage shed. I think I also put some other stuff on the trailer too. Maybe including my Dad's old Sears garden tractor. Had it squatted pretty good but power & braking (brakes on all 4 trailer wheels) was fine. Would I want to travel across country this way? No, but the 20 or so miles each direction I was traveling it was fine.

Currently I'm working on building the pole barn and I'll throw a ton of limestone/sand mix in the bed and throw another ton on my little 2 wheel trailer. The trailer squats pretty good, but the truck is fine. So much for not being able to work a half-ton short bed. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

i use a reese equalizer hitch when hauling my tractor, or anything else heavy on the flatbed trailer..have hauled it twice more since i started the thread, and i am very satisfied with the way it handles the load..i think it does better than the 93 GMC with a 350 motor....still gotta get the brakes hooked up!!!!!

I have an 01 Dodge HO Cummins diesel and have a Bri-Mar 18 ft, 12,000 GVW trailer. I did have to change the receiver and upgrade to a 1100 lb tongue weight. It pulls my Mahindra 4110 w/Bradco 11 ft hoe, with no problems what so ever.. Of course brakes, both trailer axles are nice. They are also mandatory here in CT. New Enlgand tractor, the dealer I bought from, is right close to 100 miles from me. 95% I 84 up and down hills non stop. The Cummins don't even feel that trailer/tractor combo..
