Moving Up

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have been thinking about the two tractor scenario. Storage space really isn't a problem and maybe it would be best to buy a good used tractor in the 50-75 hp range to use only for mowing and planting. I do have an issue with door clearance though. My two barns have a heightof about 7'. I'll have to do something about the exhaust on a larger tractor if I go that route. Thanks again.

Most have an option that puts the exhaust down, or a muffler shop can re route it pretty inexpsively. Hey, what about a NEW SHOP?!! Bigger doors, Send me money. Cool tools etc. A combine....

Beyond the exhaust stack issue, just about anything big that you might find is going to have a clearance problem with a ROPS and that 7 foot door unless you either get a folding ROPS or buy something without roll protection, which is not recommended. Good luck sorting things out!

tendin 100 acres id keep both. could you atach shed roof to side of one buildin or go ahead an sink some poles just big enough for tractor. 2640 is perty good all around tractor can get at a fair price round here but its green

Yeah you are in a bit of a pickle, really - but 100 acres is a lot of God's earth and it will take mighty work to cover it all. I am with the rest of the crowd- look for used farm tractor (hopefully) with a used large area mower. I have never priced such things, so no clue there - but there are TONs of 60hp tractors cheap in my neck of the woods. (Modern farming leaves this type of tractor with little to do....)
