Several, all used and abused.
If anybody had suggested that I'd enjoy mowing for hours and hours at a time, I'd have thought they were crazy. But it's really something that I look forward to. I was going to move some dirt yesterday, but really wanted to mow my trails as the grass had gotten so tall that they were no fun to walk through. Snakes and bugs being a concern too!!!

I greased the backhoe and dumptruck, checked the fluids and was ready to get to work, when I decided that until I mowed those trails, I wasn't going to be happy. :D

I have a Centruy 35hp 4wd CUT and a Landpride 7ft finish mower that I use on my grassy areas. It's an amazing setup that I'm very pleased with.

After I mowed my trails, I decided to mow around my lake. That was so much fun, that I finished off the day mowing my front pasture!!

It was a perfect day.

I spent about six hours yesterday brush-hogging, mowing and trimming. It's OK, but I'll not suggest it's my favorite thing to do.

Eddie, I'm going to guess that your "lawn" areas are not completely smooth like a subdivison lawn. If that is the case, how does that finish mower handle it? I'm doing your kind of mowing with my rotary cutter. Think I could do it faster with a wider finish mower?

Rob, once you have an area clear of rocks and lumps and such, if you just keep mowing it, it will most likely turn to mostly grass. No reason to not use a finish mower after that. Once our trails are all leveled, I plan on hitting them once a week with the finish mower just like the lawn. :)

I don't see mowing grass on your project list, by the way have you crossed anything off yet?

Egon,

The only thing nicer then the smell of cut grass is the smell of Honeysuckle.

Rob,

You are correct, my lawn areas are not very smooth. I had to raise the deck height one ince so that I didn't scalp the high spots when mowing. Now I'm cutting at about two inches, which looks really nice. I cut once a month and can cruise along at a farily good speed. The real limiting factor on how fast I cut is how much bouncing around that I can handle. If the tractor had a smother ride, I'd be in another gear since the cutter can easily keep up.

Toad,

Your right, mowing grass and maintaining the place is just part of living here. Unfortunately, as I progress with my other projects, I end up with more land to maintain. I'm working on several projects at the same time, but there is some doubt as to which if any that I will finish by the end of the year. At least the kids have been doing allot of fishing!!!

Wayne,

The fence has been an ongoing project that I started four years ago. I still have 960 feet to go before I can actually use that area for anything. It will need three more street lights and my gazebo in place. Depending on how far along I get on my projects for this year, I might attempt to do some work on the fence next year.

Eddie:

I sure know what you mean. There's something about the satisfaction that comes with looking back over a perfectly clipped area. Here's a pic of my L5030 and Woods RM990 mower. The field is about 15ac, and after mowing it with a 60in rotary cutter for several years, the RM990 makes much cleaner and faster work.
