Mower blade fiasco

The Deere Cut Performance blades worked quite well. I asked dealer to get me a set of Gator blades and what he got me was the Predator 2 blades. Pretty uninspiring design with minimal lift. Cut was poor at best.

Went to a set of 96-306 Gators on the 54" deck. Cut is much better than with the Predators, but still mediocre at best. I cut pasture which is tall and somewhat matted at 8-10" and pretty thick. Had deck set around 4" and had plenty of blowout on the LH side Clippings were plenty long, but did seem to fan out nicely with no clumping. Horse did a good job of eating it down relatively evenly this time. We rotate him off to another section every 10-14 days.

I have a Meg-mo setup coming as well so we'll see how that works when we rotate off the next section.

I have the JD mulching blades on my 54" deck with the mulching kit installed. I am very pleased with this setup. Unless the grass is wet, I don't get clumping or any visiable signs of clippings. It seems like from what I read, you either really love the Gator blades or you really hate them.

Well it looks like we'll be going back to the Gator blades. Between the Gators and the Meg Mo both did a nice job of not clumping, but the Gators had a much better evenness of cut. I almost think that the Meg-Mo may have too much wind or something as it definitely misses where it should not.
