Mowing mower deck for GC2310 or lawn tractor?

I have a MF2310, but did not get the MM, but opted instead for the 3 point, pull behind Landspride 60" trailer mower.

I considered a pull-behind finish mower, but I figured that the lack of maneuverability would require that I also buy either a mid-mount mower, or a seperate lawn tractor with a mower deck.

Why do you use the pull-behind finish mower when you have the seperate garden tractor with a 54" deck? Is the difference between 54" and 60" worth having another implement to store/maintain?

Don't think my 2310 has ever been rained on!

My GC2310 has always been stored outside - even at the dealers. And it shows

The 54" was already bought & paid for 5 years ago and I used it at our old house & the business. I found it to be less reliable than I liked, so when I bought the MF2310, another mower was a no-brainer. I am one of those people that like to have a backup mower, etc. and because it was paid for & already 3 years old, it was worth more to me used as a reserve than the resale value. We used to live 9 miles from the business, so I left the 54" at home & the 2310 at the business, but as of last Spring, we now live next to the business, so everything is in one place. The 54" comes in handy if I don't want to take the time to unhook the backhoe or stop using it for another task to mow. But I use both each week, because as I said in an earlier post, the 2310 is not as stable & I use the 54" on those steep spots. I could get along with one or the other (hand mow the steep spots), but consider myself lucky to have both. I use the trailer mower for 90% of all my mowing and love it, prefering it to the rider. Like that it evenly spread out the clippings to the rear, not in a furrow - the 54" can leave big furrows! The trailer mower is super easy to hook on to & get off - much easier than the MMM.

So, hopefully that answers your question. The MMM could be the answer if you are moving pretty level stuff, but for my needs, the trailer/rider combo works.

I have a mid mount mulching deck for the GC2310, it's wonderful.Most often I use the old lawn tractor because I don't feel like taking off the backhoe I don't have the space in the garage, with my wifes car in it ,to leave the bh off. My new truck sleeps outside , I am planning on building a garage addition,for the truck and tractor,and someday get a zero turn , they are fast.

I have the 60" MMM for my 2310 and when I bought the 2310 I also had a small JD lawn tractor. The small JD doesn't belong to me anymore, it took a ride to a relative in NC. I can have mower on and off in only a couple of minutes and I routinely swith from mower set-up to TLB, the first time is a pain, but it gets easier everytime. I would buy the MMM and forget about the lawn tractor myself, also the massey burns less fuel when mowing than a comparable gas riding mower, in my opinion, I have no scientific proof however.

Well, I bought a rear mount Maschio finishing mower when I bought my MF early last year. Previously I had used a Craftsman lawn tractor for mowing (which died a flamming death) and I was very unhappy with the Maschio. Also, I was not very happy with the way the Ag tires were tearing up my lawn (I have about 2 acres to mow) so instead of getting a mid-mount for the MF I bought a JD 300 which does a great job. I bought the better quality JD instead of the ones sold at HD and for this I am glad. I can use the JD to pull my big utility cart as well.
