Silly question. I've got a small yard tractor for mowing my lawn. I wanted to replace the belts on the mower but it is nearly impossible to get to. Ramps are too small. Any suggestions?

The mower spindles have covers over them that allow you to remove them and grease the bearings and replace the belts-lacing the belt or belts is tricky the first time so be sure to draw the routing of the V belt :laughing::thumbsup:

Please remember that the flat pulley is a pressure inducing tensioner andit must meet the flat part of the belt.


If you hae 40 plus year old wheel horse with a rear discharge system I can help you with that too.

Thanks! I'll give this a shot. I hate asking weak questions like this but I gotta start somewhere.

Most all riding mowers allow you to lower the blade assy to it's lowest position, then unpin it from the tractor. They're heavy so be careful. Usually the only belt you need to unhook, at this point, is from the motor pulley. Once unpinned, just slide it out from under the mower, and MOST of the ones I've seen, have a diagram printed on them, showing the belt layout.

Once removed, you can do what ever you need, and slide it back in and hook it back up. Just pay attention to where the pins come out. If necessary, take pics with a digital camera. Excellent reference.
