Mowing a soccer field

I need to mow a soccer field and get the smoothest cut possible. Is a flail the answer? Total cut area maybe 2 to 2 1/2 acres. Size and brand? I have either a 33 or 75 HP tractor I can use. Thanks

had a friend use my finish mower to do a football field for a peewee league work just fine shuold do for what you want

I am currently doing that and it just isn't smooth enough. This is for a serious league. Not making fun of PeeWee games, but I need to go a step beyond. Thanks

In the tractor world, a finish mower is as good as it gets. You may do a bit better with a commercial mower (zero turn type) - but I doubt it. Also check that your finish mower is configured properly and that the blades are sharp.

How 'bout a reel type mower? I always thought they had the nicest cut, if they are sharp and properly adjusted.

great suggestion, "ironpen" will find out that 'Reel Mowers' are used for the greens (very very smooth). some golf clubs will use them on the Fairways too.

i will assume that a good weed control program has been initiated for the game field's grass type.

Use lightweight fairway mowers from JohnDeere for your golf course maintenance needs

A well maintained, high quality flail mower will give an excellent finish, but the BEST finish will be a "golf course" turf mower of some description. (bed knife mower?) Check out the mowers used to mow major league ball park turf, ect.....
