Hello Fausdick
I have "The Solution" to your disgruntled Mowing issues. It is called a Ladn Owner's Pride Flail Mower. I have a good friend that Mow's Ten acres per week with his, and this is His Baby. It mow's super clean and leaves no rooster Tail's or uneven Cut Grass ! He first saw one being used along an Interstate in North Carolina, and could not believe how nice the grass looked that was cut with it. I have looked this Flail Mower over close and they are one of the most well thought out design that I have ever seen. He has had his Six Year's and not had one issue with it so far, they are Made to last. They are Pricey but like anything else, Good Things are Pricey. I hope this helps, here is a Link to Them. Regards, General Stuart

I have a 2520 with both a 62D and a 72 inch rear finish mower, Frontier GM1072R. I have found exactly the same thing with this setup, i.e., on uneven terrain, the belly mower leaves an "edge" of grass sticking up. The rear finish mower solved this problem completely and delivers a golf course smooth cut. I believe this is because the mower rides on it's own wheels and follows the terrain better.

I have been very happy with the rear finish mower and if doing it again, that is all I would have.View attachment 294568

Runner, I totally agree! If you leave the 62D follow the contour of the ground it makes a beautiful cut. But we know we can't do that! Your experience with the rear finish mower makes me think this might be my way to go? Do you find the RFM leaves an uneven cut or scalpes when the contour changes? Looking at your photo, your yard contours are similar to mine, I only have less slope. Having no experience with RFM, I assume the wider you go the more uneven cut? Your grass looks very high? Does the RFM bog down in the high grass?

I have a ventrac with front mount 72 inch mower. I t has redused my trim time to almost nothing. I have steep ground that is why I bought it. The reduced trim time is a plus. There is a ventrac thread read about the different engines. I bought a used one. Ventracs are not cheap new.

I agree that the front mount dedicated flexing mower would be the best solution if money is no object. After that I'd say a commercial zero turn even though you said they're out of the question.

Your setup now is not the ideal lawn mower, it's a compromise between a lawnmower and tractor.

If you are concerned with getting a zero turn stuck in wet conditions (which you really should wait until it dries anyways) then I wouldn't even think about using the 4720 on that lawn!

However, since your not looking for a golf course green as a lawn, then you should be able to make the current tractor work satisfactorily and save se money over a new mower altogether.
