I just was able to mow the lawn. I'm happy to say that the GC1715 did an amazing job. I mow about 3 acres and used to own a Toro Titan 48" . My GC has the same cut quality and similar speed. I really like the tractor seat time more.

I do have questions though. Does anyone mow with the wheels suspended? I have a 60" drive over and was just curious.

Also I don't use the discharge shoot seems to disperse better. I did the same with my Toro.

And RPM when mowing do you keep the tack in the green or do you lower the RPM

And high speed or low speed?

Overall my first impression is

I mow in low and with the chute up. The way I set the mower is on a hard level service I have the wheels just touching the ground.

Same with me. I adjusted my lift arms so the deck falls level. Then set the deck to barely roll on the ground. It's meant for the wheels to maintain total contact with the lawn. I just don't wanna batter the thing.

I'm with Dale. Wheels set to touch --barely-- most of the time. I'm usually running 1800-2000 RPM.

I've removed the discharge flapper thing completely, originally so I could fit it in where I park it (narrow space). I then discovered MUCH better distribution of grass cuttings. Win-win. Agree the MMM does a very nice job on lawns. Also, if you raise the MMM all the way, it makes for a good "poor man's bush hog" over brushy areas....

My understanding is that MOST mid mount mowers are meant to use suspended and the wheels are only for scalping protection. My instructions say to adjust the wheels 1/4 to 1/2 off a flat hard surface at mowing height. I have heard that a few MMM are intended to run on the wheels like a rear finish mower but I haven't had one of those. Running with the discharge flap up leaves a better looking lawn but I only do where there is no chance of hitting something with a rock or other debris.

Thanks for the reply, did you have to level thedeck? Seems like on mine the left side is lifted higher off the ground if I try to only lower the deck to the have the wheels barely touch.

The manual says nothing really about adjusting this.

CB -- In the MMM manual, there's a section on set-up, with the initial procedure & adjustment process. Those two arms that attach to the deck have a height adjustment on them. Look for the large nuts near where the arms connect with those spring-loaded pins.

Perfect and thanks I am currently looking at it :)

So I was able to make adjustments last night. So with the deck at my calculated 3.5" cut height my gauge wheels are about 1/8" off the ground in the front and about 1/2" in the back.

I assume this should be fine because I remember my Toro said the deck should have some type of pitch forward.

Any input would be great. I can't wait to mow again.

Don't know for sure, but mine pitches somewhat as well. Still have the snow blower on so I can't check! Grass is beginning to turn green, but hasn't started growing yet.

Here's a pic of that adjustment point, though it sounds like you've got that set up now (couldn't find it earlier)-- MMM adjust link.JPG
