Mowing Mowing: With your loader on or off?

Definitely get some caps! Mine came with. They have an integral keeper that keeps them with the fittings. When the loader is on the caps connect together and hang below the fittings which keeps the insides of the caps clean. Dealer should have them (maybe even color coded for the various lines) and TSC may carry them /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hazmat explained it pretty well: If the loader and the loader frame aren't on the same (or parallel) planes, you have to really mess with the loader controls to drop the arms into lower loader pins and then backwards into upper pin notches.

I leave the loader on, it protects the front end from getting bashed in by brush an small trees...
I run the loader so the back side is even with the front axle an the front is tipped up. This
bends the little tree perfect to slip under the front axle and they don't end up in the grill...

Also in my woods I'm almost constantly zig zagging, sometime when your watching the rear to see
if the mower clears, the front end gets into trouble. The loader makes for a excellent bumper...

I keep mine on. When I did my first mowing this year the grass was about chest high (I am 6ft2). I came across several downed trees and limbs and a few other items, and it made it easy to get them out of the way. It was also extremely wet and even with 4WD I got stuck a couple times and had to use the loader to walk myself out. I also like to have it on to take out low haging branches to get closer to the trees.

Not to pick on Kevin, but we should define "mowing"

I hereby designate myself "mowing with your loader on or off czar". /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif From this point forward all those cutting grass shall do the following:

Finish Mowing with MMM - take it off!
Finish Mowing with RFM - get yourself some front weight & take it off
Well maintained field mowing - get yourself some front weight & take it off
Reclaiming jungle /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif - leave it on

The czar has spoken y'all are now enlightened. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I take mine off for finish mowing (MMM). Took it off for field mowing (rotary cutter) for the flat parts, put in on for added stability on the hill. Someday I'll lay out the cash for the front weight.

Not to pick on Hazmat...

...but if you'll get a bigger tractor, you won't need all that weight. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wifey was checking out the TC55D The last time we were at the dealer. Salesguy asked if I wanted to trade up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Only $28K /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif for the Tractor + loader. Larger Implements to go with it at additional cost /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Steve

Get the TC55 with ESS. Basically same as the 2120 with more hp. One excelllent machine /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif As my dealer describes it, the 2120 and now the TC48 are "real" tractors. I've used one for 17 years and it's still doing 8 to 10 hour days.

( You'd have better luck at your tractor dealer finding caps. They make them specifically for the hydraulic fittings. Shouldn't be too much money. )

I bought some for my 12LA loader from the dealer.

Thought I would give the NH part number if anyone is interested:

Bin AP35044S1011
Part 86532891

They come in a 4 pack and my dealer charged me $18. Pricey, but at least I have them now. These are only the plugs (male) for the tractor.

I "thought" I once read here that the caps and plugs should be supplied with the loader. Maybe one of our NH dealers here could comment?
