MTD snowblower for 1000 series lawn tractor

Hi Charlie, my name is Mark and I live in Colorado. A long time ago I lived in Bridgewater, MA. Anyway, I have the same Cub Cadet tractor as you (mine is an 08). I am getting ready to purchase a snow thrower and I was wondering what model yours is?

I am looking at a couple different ones. The first one is on snowblowersdirect.com. It is a Toro MTD 42 Two Stage Lawn Tractor Mount Snow Blower Model: 190032101. The 101 model has all controls on the left side of the machine. It looks like your lift control is on the right and the other controls are on the left. Better price and in stock locally. The controls are set up like yours. Do you think this one will fit my tractor also.

Mark, you brought back an oldie thread here! Those snowblower attachments might all be made by Bercomac and only the attachment hardware would be different between MTD and Sears machiens. You might try a search for Bercomac as well. That $1500 mail-order one might not be a bad deal if it had no sales tax and free shipping. My personal take on it is; I can't see the value in putting a $1500-2000 attachment on a $2000 tractor and this is coming from a guy who grew up with JD GT's with snowblower attachments.

Hi Joel, thanks for the response. The Craftsman @ Sears is $1,000.00. I get what you are saying about the cost/benefit. I had a snow blade the last 2 winters and I wasn't overly impressed with it. I also have an 06 Ariens 926LE that I am selling to a neighbor for $650 so for $350 more out of my pocket (Sears) I feel okay about it. Of course I just spent $239 on a soft cab and $150 for a rear weight kit so.....you can see where I am going with this. Of course the wife keeps calling me a freak and something else about being obsessed....lol. Anyway, I will research Bercomacs but do you know anything about the Craftsman I mentioned @ Sears?

Off hand I don't know much about them, but I'd look into that Sears unit. If it fits an MTD as opposed to a Sears/AYP machine, you *should* be good to go. These things often need minor modifications to work though. The only tractor/snowblower combo I have experience with is older JD's.

Joel, I just went to Bercomac's website and they have 3 models specific to my tractor, 40", 44" & 48". There is a Bercomac dealer in my town that I just spoke to and they are getting me pricing. I suspect these units will be pricey as all 3 models have an electric lift on them. I'll keep researcing the Sears Craftsman unit in the meantime. Thanks again for your response.

A fella on another forum just purchased a Berco 48" for his 1K series Cub. He got it for $1600, but he drove a crazy distance to get it. I'd go with the 40" and see how it prices out. A hundred or two extra dollars might be worth it, if it's a trusted, solid, close-by dealer.
