Muckboots Revisited

Not mucks, but an alternative I have started using. Amazon.com: Servus Comfort Technology 14" PVC Steel Toe Men's Work Boots, Black (18821): Home Improvement Super cheap, last well, have a steel toe and very warm with some thick wool socks in winter. There is a regular toe version as well that's more comfortable for long walks

I really must disagree with the "very warm" part of your post. First, it's just a rubber shell without a liner, zero insulation. Second, they don't breathe so you're feet get soaked in sweat, second, they have steel toes which conduct the cold temps. Steel toes are well known for producing cold toes.

Otherwise, you're right. Cheap, durable, mine are made in the US. Good product, but only for wearing short term. Much boots are much much more comfortable and much warmer.

I like my Bogs Romeo style shoes, I wear them well past winter until the ground drys out. So darn comfortable and warm.
Realize the Romeo style wouldn't be a good choice in deep snow levels, which we don't really have here.

I am not a fan of steel toes... not warm or comfortable.

If it wasn't for lack of room for more shoes and boots, I'd grab a pair of them for the days it's not cold. That's VERY cheap for a waterproof boot.

I'm on my third pair of Muck boots. They are warm, comfortable, and breathe. I just wish they were cheaper. I got about 5 years from my first two pairs.

At basspro yesterday I was looking at a new 160.00 pair of muck boots thinking dang that's way to much money for some Chinese Foam and neoprene that I know is barely going to last a year of light use. Sure they're comfortable but come on.
Then the bass pro shop gal tells me their brand redhead is on clearance. I had tried their brand about six years ago on before did not like them. But they must have redesigned them because these were in my opinion better than the muck boots. Plus she tells me the redheads are warrantied for one full year through bass pro where as they will only warranty Muckboots for one month. Otherwise you have to contact Muck directly and I'm not sure how long they warranty. So I bought them 89 bucks and they had a whole bunch of them if anyone else is looking. We shall see how they hold up.

I still have not purchased new boots. Save for about two inches of snow in early January and some pretty serious mud, we have not had much winter. The mud is down to a dull roar and there are other more pressing needs so I can get by for now.

A few of the replies have mentioned steel toes. You may wish to try the composite type. IMHO, they are much more user friendly if your job or needs allow them.
