Mud on Battery issues

Sorry, the myth of not putting a battery on a concrete floor is just that. The battery case is plastic, and so is the battery box you're buying. Batteries do NOT lose charge through the case to the concrete floor/ground.
When I had my foreign auto shop I sold Interstate batteries for many years.

This is good to know.

I had wondered about why the advice, but it was pretty common advice.

Oh well, it probably still worth the $9 to have the battery acid contained case of some bad thing happening. And, even if it isn't I won't go broke over it.

Both of my starting batteries, (Interstate Marine batteries) are in similar cases, strapped to the deck under the center console of my boat. Originally the boat had 4 batteries, all in the stern hold(s), two deep cycle and two start batteries. That was a mess. I eliminated the two deep cycle ones and re-rigged the cables to a start/house/parallel digital switch, and external AC dock auto charger.
Keeping them clean and cool is a big part of long life for any acid battery.

AGM batteries, don't care one way or the other. They can be used upside down or rightside up.
