Mulch blades for BX 60\" deck

I installed the mulch kit tonight and everything went great except one minor detail. The mount hole on the mulch blades is slighty larger than the original blades (about 1/8") Did I get the right blades? They mount up fine but I am now depending on friction to keep them from sliding around on the mount bolt.

Unless they have two pins or bolts offset from the center, you were always depending on friction to keep them from sliding around. It doesn't matter if the hole was .001" oversize or 1/8". If the bolt is properly torqued the blade shouldn't move.

That said, I'd be worried about getting it "centered" when you install the blades. It could cause a balance problem. Does the deck vibrate more now than it did before? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does, a bushing could solve your problem.

A call to your dealer should confirm the proper hole size in the blades. I'm not familiar with them, but the mulch blades could be "universal" for all Kubota's decks & require the aforementioned bushing on the BX.

The only reason I ask is the stock blades had a hole that was pretty much exactly the same size as the bolt. I did my best to get it centered and ran them around manually and they didnt hit anything. But I havent actually mowed with them yet, so not sure on the vibration. Guess I'll just give them a shot and go from there. Thanks

I use the mulch kit regularly - works great. I am not using the mulching blades (just the standard ones that come with the MMM), but have not had any problems. Since I hate bagging my grass anyhow, the mulch kit is a great alternative to the grass catcher.
