Mulching Blades-Are they worth it?

Is it worth getting the mulching blades for a Kubota 60" MMM?

They run about $300, so do they really make a difference?

Bagging would be ideal but we don't have the $'s for that pricey an option right now.

I have the Mulching kit - and I really like it. However, the mulching kit does not include the mulching blades. The kit consists of some sheet metal "shields" to block the chute and improve airflow around the blades. I have not seen any need to purchase the additional mulching blades as the standard blades have worked great for mulching. The kit should cost just over $200 without blades.

You can mulch with a standard blade. Just keep it sharp, mow frequently (don't want to try to mulch too much at once, leaves lumps) and block the discharge shoot. Good mulching blades will give you an extra margin on cutting length, but aren't really necessary.
