I had to go to the kawasaki dealer today to get a part for a atv. i saw that they are making a mule 610. this thing is compact and will fit in a full size truck bed . it's just a smaller mule.
for my needs it may just be the ticket. i got soaked riding my honda foreman in from hunting saturday and i told myself i was getting to old for that stuff and needed something with a cab. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know they are new but does anybody know anything about them? mule 610

I do now!!!
Based on their introduction for the 610, it's going to replace the Mule 550.

Looking through the specs, it looks like a nice tough little machine. A bit smaller but like you said, that could be a good thing. Very impressed with a 10' turning radius. My RTV at 24' gets a bit tight in the woods.

Well i drove one and to say the least i really wasnt impressed!it is compact but it just felt weak and like the a clutch was slipping. i think i would spend the extra and get a rtv.
I stopped at the kubota dealer again this morning and boy the difference between them. the bota is more money but in the long run i think it would pay off!
Buy kubota!!!!!!!

I have a 550 and it fits in a standard truck bed. I really like it as it is handy and very nimble, and was only a little over $5K two years ago.

However, it a little underpowered if you are expecting 4-wheeler-like performance.

There are bigger mules with bigger engines that have more power, and still much less than the Kubota.

I looked that the Kubota and it is a substantial machine, but way too much money.

The 610 isn't in the same category as the RTV. I would compare it to the Deere compact Gator and in that case it blows it away. The 610 is built as a compact U.V. The RTV is full size and twice the price. I think the original poster said something about using it for hunting and it would seem to be a good machine in the woods because of it's size. Of course then you could look at what I consider to be a mid-size, the Yamaha Rhino.

<font color="black"> Not really, price the diesel Mule with the same options at the Kubota and see for yourself. I think if you were to ask about reliability of Kubota v.s. Mule I'm positive orange would be the winner.

I think that the pricing may depend on what area of the country you're in. Last spring, here in New England, I priced out a 3010 gas mule, a gas JD HPX4x4 and the RTV900. All were equipped about the same with plow, hard cab, heater, hydraulic bedlift, lights. There was only a couple of hundred dollars difference. The RTV900 stood out as the clear bargain especially when you consider the diesel engine, the hydrostatic transmission and the power steering.

I have been gone for a while and where i have been there isnt any internet!
I guess i was expecting some responsiveness and power out of the mule. i am used to a honda foreman and the mule was no where close. and this weekend i did some riding into some areas that i realized a mule or an rtv just wouldnt go.
i still am going to look at a rhino but from what i hear from dealers they can't keep them in stock. my atv parts companys owner has a rhino and he loves the thing. he works on atv's and gets to see them all and really likes it.

I think kawasaki is onto something good with the 610 but they have got to get it more power and torque. but if i was going to buy a utility vehicle today based on what i have seen thus far i would probably go kubota. now that may change after i see a rhino.

But i really think i will stick with atv's. i have a yard cart i modified with boat axles and beefed up that i pull behind my atv. it is tough as nails as a matter of fact a friend stated this weekend that i give the thing he** and it just keeps on going. it has for about five years now. i can carry most anything i need just about anywhere. i even have been planning to build a new one from scratch .

maybe the mule610 will get a steroid shot and look better in the future.
