On our new Kawasaki Mule we needed a tow hitch. We want to use it to pull a lawn roller, dump cart, etc... Excuse the driver, he is a little goofy.

I started to fabricate one by extending the frame tubes using 1.5" black pipe. I drilled a through hole bo bolt the extentions on.

I then tacked up the hitch out of some scrap steel that I had. I wanted to make sure that it all fit correctly before final welding. I also added a tow hook that could be used with a tow strap.

Once I was sure that everything was lined up right I welded it all up and put a coat of primer and black paint on.

Looks good and a good idea to utilize existing tubes. The only problem that I can see is that it will ride rough when you have something hooked up, since it is attached to the axle swing arm.

And one last picture... Not quite as big of a project as WroughtHarv would typically tackle, but I've had enough for now. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jerry,

I had trouble finding anything to mount the hitch to. There just isn't very much back there.
I want to make a front brush guard and bumper and it looks like a challenge to find anything solid enough up front also.

Here is a light gauge metal Mule hitch that is selling now on Ebay for $104. It appears to simple bolt to the center of the lower control arm.
