Mule - Replacing winch cable

Could use some tips please.
Is there a way to access the winch cable without removing the bumper?
My problem is the cable, used to lift and lower the blade, snapped and got tangled and wedged onto the drum. It's twisted so bad that when I try to use the motor to let cable out, it goes back in. Freewheeling doesn't help either. I've already removed the roller fairlead.

I put a winch on my 3010. The bumper has to come off. It's a simple drop. It is heavy, that's the only issue. No big deal.

I just pulled the winch off of mine 3010 4x4 Trans. Didn't have to pull the bumper.

Jb - Was hoping not to have to take it off but if I can't get something in there to release the cable it looks like I'll have no choice. Looks like 2 bolts each side.

Weldingisfun - If your winch is mounted like mine, I can't see how you could remove the winch with the bumper in place.

When you replace the cable, be sure to spool it on under some tension. After you get a couple wraps on the drum, hook the cable to something that will swivel (chain) and pull the cable in under a light load. JC

Actually, even if you have small hands, I don't think you would get done any quicker working thru the bumper. So much easier to just yank it.

I know what you mean about the limited space and amount of time. Only thing I was able to accomplish the other day was to bang up my hand. Can't get back to it until next week but when I do the bumper is coming off. Thanks for the advice.
