I have done my mowing for the week. Temperatures here in North East Texas are lower than normal this week. It was in the upper 80s this morning while mowing so my testing will have to wait. Running prettly hard my needle only got up to about the 3/8 point. This is running for a couple of hours. I do believe there is considerable difference in the cooling but until I get a 100 degree day to try I won't be satisfied.

The temperature should be running a constant if the thermostst is working correctly and you are not overloading the cooling capacity. Cleaning it helped its ability to dissipate heat. As long as the hundreds of soldered joints don't start leaking...your good to go!

Glad your radiator survived the soaking. I use that stuff on my farrier rasps. Makes a rasp last for a good 20 times longer than without soaking.

That said, I doubt I'll ever pour it into my radiator ;). Maybe hydrogen peroxide would work as well, as it dislodges crud fairly well, without being overly acidic.

This is interesting!
I have been looking at the rust on my chipper along with many other items and have been wanting to give it a coat of paint to preserve it.
Sandblasting is too labor intensive & messy.
The Murac acid may be just the ticket for this project.
I’m not looking for professional results; I would just like it to be all the same color.
What are your thoughts on applying it with a poly tank hand pressure sprayer and then rinsing it off with a garden hose & pressure washer?
Pros & Cons

I use it on cast iron engine blocks and heads to get rid of rust. I use a mild mix and after washing off you will need to spray some oil on like wd or deepcreep or it will turn around and rust again almost immediately. Then later you could wipe down with lacquer thinner and paint but dont wait to paint is what I am getting at whether you oil it or not.

I've used a garden sprayer to spray it onto concrete before. It works really well, with one major side effect.. It eats the sprayer wand. If you don't mind trashing your sprayer after one use, then it works well, but don't expect to ever use that sprayer again.

Also, be darn sure you cover your skin, as that is not your friendly neighborhood hand cream coming out of that wand. Overspray is an issue.

fwtw Bare metal needs an etching primer or phosphate coating for paint to stick properly.

Paints like rustoleum etc and most bondo's and 2 part automotive urethane primers and epoxys are designed to be direct to metal. But plain old automotive primer and enamel or lacquer etc wont stick for long look at most farm store 3 pt tractor attachments FI.

So my advice is to anyone contemplating a project like this make sure if you are taking old paint off to put new on its done properly. my .002
