One of those gentle giants landed on my thumb over the weekend. He didn't sting and probably would not have but this type of close encounter is just one of those things that scares me. By reflex, I shook him off and pulled my cap off to swat. He flew out and looked at me a second or two as if to say
"what was that all about?" Then just flew off. I worked up a deer plot last week for a friend and saw one chasing an insect. I saw my friend at church the other day and he saw one carrying a cicada close to the ground. He said the hornet would stop every now and then to rest and continually sting the cicada. If you want to see a scary video, google japanese hornet and choose the national geographic one.
