I'm sure there are lots of opinions on this, so let's hear them.

For what I want to do, I figure I need a FEL, box blade, and shredder. After that, what are the most useful PTO attachments out there? Anybody want to rank them by order of importance or usefulness?

This is the key. What exactly is it you want to do? Ranking attachments depends entirely on what the task is at hand.

A PTO genny comes in handy quite often, our 13kW generator will power the Miller 210MIG @ 230V and 50 amps, as well as light up the house and stables and power the water pump.

Which PTO Gen do you have? Any suggestions, as I am looking into it?

I've got what you listed plus a post hole digger and a set of homemade forks to fit on the FEL. The post hole digger comes in handy for planting trees in addition to setting posts. The forks are handy for lots of things. Some others I am considering are a tiller, disc, rear blade, and a landscape rake. Don't really need them (yet), but that doesn't stop the wants. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
(for those who may not know, in TX a rotary cutter is often called a shredder)

I've got the one from Northern Toool - Item# 165929, go to their site and type that into the search function or look for it under "generator".

Works great for us! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Skypup,
What does a generator like that run? I am looking for one and deciding to buy a standalone or one for my new pto?

I'd never get rid of my tiller......Great for gardens, softening ground for moving dirt(before blading), killing grass /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, plus some other uses I'm not aware of yet I'm sure....Like the other guys mentioned, what do you want to do? There are many things to hook to the tractor to make life easier and more fun at the same time.

Next on my list is a spreader and post hole digger....

The 13 kW PTO model @ Northern Tool was $1K prior to this hurricane season.

that seems pretty reasonable, I have been looking at 7500 w's standalones, but they are pretty spendy, I wonder for operation what the difference in cost would be ? How hard is that on your tractor to run it with the pto for numerous hours at a time sitting still?

The FEL is by far the most useful piece of equipment on my B7510HST. Made more useful by three chain hooks welded onto the top of the bucket and a Markham toothbar. Probably will eventually get a set of bucket forks.

I would bet that most of the members of TBN have some kind of rotary mower, either a brush hog or a MMM. I have a KK 48" brush hog.

And a lot of posters have some type of rotary tiller. I have a used Yanmar RS1200 (48" wide). You probably need some sort of plow to loosen the soil before tilling. I have a KK middle buster/sub soiler for this job.

If my neighbor didn't have a spray unit for his 28HP New Holland that I can borrow, I probably would invest in one of those TSC sprayers to handle the ubiquitous star thistle in my neck of the woods.

With the rainy season here, I'm thinking I need some type of PTO-driven water pump to handle puddles, etc.. Nothing fancy, 20-30 gpm should be enough. Any and all suggestions along this line gratefully appreciated.

And. last but not least, some type of PTO-driven post hole digger would be nice. Want to replace about 1300 feet of farm fence next year with some type of wooden fence. I'm still doing my homework on this one.

This is like answering my wife when she says, "do I look fat in this?"....................what do you say?

For me;

1.) FEL is handy for everything. As is 3 point carry-all.

2.) There is a tie between the backblade and boxblade for maintaining driveway up the side of Grand Canyon.

3.) Also a tie for 3rd place, is the finish mower and brush hog (bush hog, rotary cutter, etc.).

4.) Although this should be in first place (due to the fun factor), my backhoe finds its way into some work around here.

5.) Last but not least, the tiller.

BTW, I say, "Honey, you look good in everything."

Tiller, pto powered of course.
Backhoe.............
MMM
FEL
Toothbar for FEL

Never got the landscape rake to work well, so it and the potato plow and carryall got sold.

Piece of chain link fence, or 6 foot wide gate in chain link for smoothing and covering seed

Hey Danny,

I forgot that old piece of chainlink fence.....it has enough miles on it to circle the earth............twice!

Thanks for all of the great answers. I really don't have anything specific in mind to do, I was just wondering what people thought they got the most use out of.

What 3 point carry alls are out there that are well made and reasonable? Brands, types, etc.

Thanks

I have to agree the LOADER is the king of all implements!
Next on my list is the 3 point finish mower followed by the tiller and then boom sprayer.

My 4' KK brush hog doesn't get much work these days, although it has always performermed really well. My 5' boxblade is a infrequent use also. I bought a 3 point aerator in November, I think it will move up the list of most frequently used.

I don't regret any 3 point purchase I've made.

The FEL and BB are my most used implements.

Heres a very basic run down of what I use stuff for...

Pallet forks for the FEL have been very usefull, moving block, brick, firewood, etc...

BB for grading, cleaning up/out terraces, counter weight and moving the car trailer or pulling the log splitter. I welded a reciever to the back of it.

The RB is used for snow removal and grading.

The rake is used for light grading for the drive and pulling rocks out of the grass that were put there from snow removal /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Spreading/smoothing dumped dirt over rough or rutted grass areas.

The carry all used to get used a lot for moving stuff when we built the house. Also for moving firewood unitl putting it on pallets.

<font color="blue">PTO... </font>
The Chipper(6") is getting plenty of use cleaning up the woods while getting firewood. Need the mulch as well, chipped plenty of yards and can't make it fast enough.

<font color="blue">PTO... </font>
60 gal sprayer to fertilize, spray weeds and vines.

<font color="blue">PTO... </font>
Spreader for fertilzer and sanding the drive when it starts to ice over. I'll be selling this and just use the FEL to spread sand. Tried it last year and it spread sand just fine but its easier to just put it in the FEL and have a gentle touch. It also eliminates having to switch between the spreader and RB.

Cultipacker for rolling in the grass seed and light packing when building the house. This is another item that will get sold in the next year or so after fixing up some waterways.

<font color="blue">PTO... </font>
Mower, gotta do something the cats won't eat it. Maybe that sprayer should get sold as well /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Backhoe, more jobs that I care to list. Still have a couple tile projects to do and stumps to dig up.

4 ton(2 yard)Farm wagon/dump trailer, hauled more dirt around than can keep track of.
