Greetings,

After trying to convince my father for years, who is 80 now, that he could use a smaller tractor with a bucket on it around his 150 acre farm he went to Kubota and purchased a new LX2610 with a cab and front end loader.
So I wanted to ask you all what options are a "must have" or wish that you had on this tractor? I believe he is getting the R4 tires and filling them. He will be using it for light duty things and pulling a small finish mower. More than likely a lot of snow moving in the winter.

Thanks for any replies
Sean

I would get R14T tires and a third function valve if he anticipates using a grapple bucket or hydraulically angled front blade.

Might consider the extendable lift arms to facilitate hitch up.

I would get as many rear remotes as you can and third function for the front as well. You can always buy the attachments later, but while its being assembled at the dealer, these items are easiest to put on then. Same with a backhoe sub-frame if you ever anticipate wanting one. Those are the only regrets I have with my purchase and it was all because I was being cheap.

Get as many rear remotes as you can and third function for the front as well. 3 point quick hitch and Hydraulic top link.
Category 1 Hydraulic Top Link: 18 1/8" - 26 3/8" | AGRISTORE USA

My B2650 is the prior version of your tractor. The swivel on top link may be to wide for tractor. Clamp bolt or top link pin in vise, place cylinder over pin and use angle grinder to make the swivel end narrower.

At 80 y.o. being able to backup to implement, raise 3pt and you're good to go on non-pto equipment. PTO quick connections are now hitting the market if he has weak grip strength.

Still looking for hydraulic side link cylinder.

SDT is correct, the R14t tires arewhat you need for a grooming mower and for traction in snow. They are a little more expensive but worth it.

Thanks for the replies, I will keep an eye on this thread for more and pass the information along today. On the tires it is my mistake when I talked with him it sounded like the dealer was putting on the R14T hybrid tires and that they had already talked about it. I like the idea of a 3rd function and extra valves in the back as well. Although that could be added and I am pretty good with hydraulics the time it would take to do it and the cost that it raises the tractor it would just make sense to add it as a dealer option.

The dealer is coming out to my fathers house to pick up his finish mower (25mins away) and bring it back to the shop to fit it up to the tractor for him. Makes sense to me if the driveline needs to be cut so it does not damage the tractor or the mower. He will probably leave it hooked up for the most part for now.

I like those snow clearing attachments, never heard of any of them thanks for putting that up. We have a hydraulic top link on some of our tractors at my work. Very handy indeed.

I see there are two bucket sizes available 54 or 60, what do you all recommend for this tractor set up?

As far as rear remote valves, can someone help me decide which would be the best option as there are a few different ones on the "build my Kubota" website.

FIRST POSITION BASE KIT AND VALVE (B7316 & B7304)
PLUS SECOND POSITION STACKING KIT AND LEVER (B7316 & B7304 & B7317)
1ST POSITION VALVE KIT (B7316 & B7304)
PLUS 2ND POSITION VALVE KIT(CHOICE OF VALVE FOR 2ND POSITION) (B7316 & B7317 & B7304)

Thanks.

With my 90 year old dad, I usually help him when he needs to hook up his 3pt snowblower to his JD1070. Maybe the the OP plans to help with pto hook ups. Jon

Rear work lights are always a nice add on but can be added later.

I would choose the 54" bucket for three reasons.

Dad is eighty and likely has a reduced sense of balance. The smaller bucket, with slightly less capacity will reduce potential for a tractor rollover slightly.

Narrower bucket will be significantly easier for Dad to maneuver in tight spaces.

The tractor has a cab with heat and AC. Probably 450 pounds the cab tractor will be carrying all the time, relative to an open station model. I do not think you need max weight in the bucket.

(I will be 73 years old later this month.)
