I bought a used MX-5 mower and do not have a manual. Can anyone tell me what the proper fill level is in the gear box. When I pull the filler plug there is about 1/2" showing on the stick-as the stick is about 2 or 3" long, that leaves a lot of potential fill capacity. Also 80/90 gear lube???
Thx

Normal fill is center line of the input shaft. 80/90wt is fine.

There are two "lines" at the bottom of the flill plugs "stick" that sticks down into the gearbox. You fill till the oil is between those to line with the fillplug/dipstick screwed in fully. Reading from my Deere manual for my MX 6 it states; " Install dipstick/vent and screw in fully, then remove, oil should be between lines. Add oil as nessesary."

Don't over fill as this won't leave enough space for expansion of the oil as it heats up and you'll have a "gusher" on your tractor. Good luck with the MX5.
