I have an MX 5100 and I'm considering adding a Kubota bh 92 backhoe to it. I would appreciate any imput from others on their experience, good or bad, before I drop $10 grand on this. Thanks.

Kcender had one on his L3240, he can probably give you an idea how good it was. I know he put over 600 hours on it in a couple of years, a lot of that with the hoe in use.

How much digging are you going to be doing? The MX5100 looks to have 9.2 GPM available for the backhoe which makes it adequate for maintenance digging. What I mean by maintenance digging is an occasional hole here and there, but not excavating for a basement as an example. I have both a newer 14 GPM backhoe on a tractor and an older 26 GPM backhoe on an old Case backhoe. The 26 GPM out digs the 14 GPM obviously, but attaching the backhoe when I need it is a world of difference. Needless to say, I use the 14 GPM tractor backhoe more because I can attach it in about 10 min, compared to half a day. Excavators are heads and shoulders above backhoes for seroious digging, but they tie up a lot of money and space if you are only maintenance digging.

I have a MX5100. I bought a woods 9000 backhoe used. It came off a Kubota L4400. The brackets didn't fit my tractor so I had to cut and add a little. But to make a long story short I bought it for $3,500 plus approximately 20 hours of my own time to fix the bracket. It works awesome, I can't express how well it works. I can install and remove it in approximately 10 minutes that includes removing and installing the 3 pt hitch. I hope this is what you wanted to hear.

To my way of thinking, any tractor mounted hoe is designed for maintenance digging, or the occasional stump or burial hole.. serious digging on a regular basis calls for a regular back-hoe or excavator.

I remember Kcender commenting once he'd have been further ahead to buy a good used backhoe considering the amount of work he did with the 3240. Bottom line, they're not meant for heavy use, they meaning the tractor/hoe combination. Any add-on hoe will toss a tractor around like a dog with a rat if it's used hard, especially in rocky ground.

I've been impressed with the Woods 'hoe offerings, if the day comes when I can justify buying one that'll probably be my choice.

My further 2 cents :}

Absolutely 100% correct.

I'm very happy with my BH92 so far, it doesn't dig the same as a full size backhoe but I didn't expect it to. Have about 50 hours of dig time on it, these are the only pictures I could find.

Perfect. As I mentioned, I have both a Case Backhoe and a tractor with backhoe attachment. I get more use out of the tractor with backhoe attachment than the backhoe. Principally because I do occasional digging. When I need it need to dig it does that fine, and mine digs 11' deep almost the same as the Case's 12'. But it might be 3 months between digs.

I'm not mad at mine, but I haven't used it much. Makes great ballast for the FEL too. LOL
