This weekend I was bush hogging and my tractor suddenly lost power and stopped running. So I start checking everything and see that there is hardly any fuel in the "glass" where the fuel filter is. I pull it off and
hardly any fuel is making it to filter. I remove the lines and guess it was clogged up and fuel starts pouring out as it should. So I re-connect everything and the tractor works again for about 30-45 minutes and does the same thing. This time I can't clean it out by removing the lines and fuel is barely flowing to the filter. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Do I need to remove and drain the tank? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like debris that, over the course of 30-45 minutes, is making its way to fuel outlet and restricting its flow.

I'd bet the only way that you're gonna be able to get full flow restored is by removing and thoroughly cleaning the tank.

It does happen and it sounds like you have found your problem.

your symptoms sound like it could be the tank isnt venting and when neg pressure builds enough, fuel is not able to be pulled. If you havent done so, check the vent for the fuel tank. Try running it with the fuel cap not tighened all the way to see if the unit runs longer.

This weekend I blew out the fuel line and the tractor ran great for the next 4-6 hours. I ran almost all of the fuel out before adding fresh fuel. Then ran it about 4 hours and it started to do the same thing but not to the extent it quit running. It sputtered and I checked the fuel globe and the fuel was about a quarter way full. I removed the fuel cap but it didn't improve. So I guess I have some trash in the tank restricting the fuel flow. Anyone have any ideas on getting the trash out of the tank without removing the tank?

I have a new MX5100 and experienced the exact same thing. Tractor just died on me and it happened several times. I was starting to get ticked off when I noticed it happened when I leaned over to the right to see the rototiller edge so I could clear obstacles. Guess what? In my case it was the seat disconnect switch that picked up my slightest shift of seat position and killed the tractor. I'm not saying this is your problem but it sure was my problem. I now sit tight and no more cut-outs.
I suspect part of the problem is the switch is located on the left underneath of the seat and is not centrally located enough to compensat for minor operator movements or seat positioning. It's worth a look just to cover all the bases.

Anything on the outcome of this?

Mine does this same thing. But i need to adjust my HST pedal too because sometimes it wont start because the pedal doesn't return to 100% neutral.

Just replaced my HST safety switch for the same reason. Ended up running jumper wires to bypass the switch while I waited for the new one to come in so I could still use the tractor.
