Yep, very nice tractor.

We have an old Case 995; good old tractors. My brother uses it for bush hogging.

Wider is almost always better, especially if the tires are ballasted. You are not only gaining track width, you are also moving the ballast out. The only drawback is that your wheels are now outside your bucket for final grading purposes. I'd also recommend having about an 800# counterweight for loader work, it better balances the axle loads and traction fore and aft, and will add more weight to the solid rear axle. Most of your side hill stability is is provided by that solid rear axle

This is a pretty old thread, so you may not have much luck. A box scraper should work fine with that tractor, we use them on machines from a BX to our M8540. Check this site out for a good video on use: Tractor and Skid Steer Attachment Videos

A short top arm will tilt the box blade forward raising the cutting blade. An extended top arm will tilt the box blade back on the blade allowing a deeper cut. This is one example where a hydraulic top arm really shines.

Yes a box blade will work very well with a MX4700. I have the MX5100 (I started this thread a long time ago) and have a Bushhog BB that really works well. As others have said, you just need to adjust it properly.

You have your answers, but I have to add; The tractor has nothing to do with it. Actually you have a very good tractor!!!

My 2 cents. Most seem to point out the 4 HP difference. Tis true not a big deal for some. Put these two tractors in high altitude and BANG the MX4700 is reduced to a whimpering 8N. I believe the MX5100 is a more worldly tractor and will be worth more to more folks because of this one trait. Because of the turbo the altitudes will not affect it much if at all. Done.
