MX5100 oil change info please

I normally use Shell Rotella T. The manual that came with my new MX5100 states: The CJ-4 engine oil is intended for DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) type engines, and cannot be used on this tractor. Rotella T is CJ-4 rated. What oil can I use in this tractor? Thanks, Jim

Have an 08' mx5100. I looked for a non cj-4 oil, and could not find one locally. Talked to the dealer about it, and he recommended good old rotella t 15w-40. Claimed it was a non-issue, and would stand behind it if I had any problems.

You are putting some hr's on that thing to be needing an oil change so quick. . . which is a good thing

And another random thing, not to hijack but you have the same machine. I changed my front axle fluid the other day. When you get into it you'll find a fill level plug on each hub (same hieght as the fill level plug on the axle) which is not mentioned in the operators manual (at least the 08 manual). When the axle is drained so are your hubs, and at refill you need to pull those plugs to properly refill the hubs. Solved the mystery of why more udt came out than wanted to go back in.:thumbsup:

Actually Brian, I like to do the first oil change earlier than suggested in manual. After that, every 50 hours. Happy with the tractor although somewhat confused by oil info in manual! Thanks to all for the replies, Jim

What's confusing is the Shell Rotella T has the CF,CH-4, and CI-4 classification that the manual specifies to use but also has the CJ-4 classification that the same manual states do not use
