What price is a good one for a MX6, by itself?

I know there will be a lashing from the good members, here, but my dealer wants me to try one. For pasture cutting, loader on, he thinks it'd be great.

How about anything less than a comparable, discounted, Bush Hog, Woods or Rhino and a can of JD spraypaint. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike,
Do not do it on a 4310. I use one with a 4710 & it is light on the front end with the loader on. I hooked it up to the tractor once without the loader on. With the cutter raised I could push down on the cutter & raise the front wheels of the tractor off the ground. If do decide to try it, do not use the top link so the tail wheel is always on the ground. I paid $1,800 for my MX6.

Because, they aren't comparable.
And they aren't cheaper.

As to use on a 4310. I am willing to try it, and am not betting it will work.
I will load the front and plan on leaving the top link off. My wife mows, its what she wants, and the dealer agrees, so we'll probably try it...

The fact that your wife wants it ends the discussion about other mowers.

Would think around $2,000 would be about right.

You and your dealer need to check the JD website. The MX6 is not recommended for the 4310.

How are the Rhino/Bush hog/Woods not comparable...Besides price and color?

OK, we know Deere doesn't recommend it. It is specified for a slightly higher hp. But I will be using it to maintain a pasture, not cut brush. The real issue is the weight. But I will cut with my loader on, and essentially use it as a pull type, not 3point. And still, I am TRYING it, I know it might not work out.

As to the others:
<ul type="square">
[*] DEERE DOESN'T COST MORE!!
Their cutters have all the safety shields and a slip clutch that are usually extra on the others. Now there mught be dealer giving a better discount. But the best discount I can get is on Deere stuff. And they offer no interest financing, on top of that.

[*]Deere's MX has a double decker design. No one else has that.

[*] If I need a part, I can look it up on JDParts in the middle of the night, locate it in dealer's inventory, and buy it.

[*]And, yeah the green paint matches.
[/list]

The others aren't bad choices. But they aren't half the price and better made. They are about the same price, and sometimes not as well built.

Sadly, they are ALL overpriced. And I am pretty sure that both the dealers and the manufacturers are keeping it that way for one reason. Product liability. I only expect it to get worse.

Oh, and thanks for your concern. I started out suggesting that I knew that Deere didn't recommend this combo, but it never hurts to keep reminding....

The 4310 is repeatedly listed as capable of 6' cutter. The problem is the weight. I want to try it. I just can't consign myself to a 5' cutter. My neighbor is an old timer (if you call 82 an old timer...) He is still out there working, and thinks I will be fine with the 6'. Since he has been drug across these fields a time or two, I am willing to try based on his, and my dealers recommendation.

Now, I am also keeping my eyes open for a lighter 6' that I like, in case this doesn't fly. I am not as sold on the LX6. But I still think its better than a 5'

Mowin 60 acres can change the perspective a little, I guess....
